Some of these projects include installing the granite countertop and joist on the third floor. Of course there is the usual mishaps the the two seam to have on a somewhat regular basis. The biggest was Warren shooting a hole through the roof with a nail gun. It is easier for you to watch how that happened then explaining it.

Bring on the Heat

As you can imagine an actual heating system would be more efficient. After much thought and debate, we chose to install radiant heat instead of forced air. We brought in the NIBCO radiant heat professionals to show us how to install a staple up system and to explain why radiant is the best heat system for our building.

<a href="http://web.me.com/seegers6/SeegersEdificeVenture/Media/%20EV%20S2%20E1%20Web.m4v"><img src="http://web.me.com/seegers6/SeegersEdificeVenture/The_Podcast/Media/%20EV%20S2%20E1%20Web_1.jpg" style="float:left; padding-right:10px; padding-bottom:10px; width:210px; height:118px;"/></a>Season 2 Episode 1<br/>The saga continues.  Warren got the chance to travel to Summit, New Jersey to compete against some of the most extreme DIYers in DIY Network’s <a href="http://www.diynetwork.com/videos/stud-finder-2009-special/46125.html..ENJOY">Stud Finder competition</a> for a chance to host his own show.  Did he win?  You will have watch to find out.  We can tell you he got the opportunity to co-write a blog for <a href="http://www.diynetwork.com/">DIY Network</a> titled <a href="http://blog.diynetwork.com/tool-tips/">The Pegboard</a>.<br/><br/>Windows were installed in the building but not without Warren and Penny being measurement challenged.  The kids do their usual kid things that kept everyone entertained while working.  Plus the show has a few tips that you can use in your own home improvement projects.

Season 1 Finale

Floored
<a href="http://web.me.com/seegers6/SeegersEdificeVenture/Media/e11Floored.m4v"><img src="http://web.me.com/seegers6/SeegersEdificeVenture/The_Podcast/Media/e11Floored-3_1.jpg" style="float:left; padding-right:10px; padding-bottom:10px; width:210px; height:118px;"/></a>Season 1 Episode 11<br/>We get another surge of progress.  <a href="http://www.heritageantiquelumber.com/index.html">Heritage Antique Lumber</a> came to the building to take measurements for the kitchen cabinets.  Three <a href="http://www.ivytech.edu/southbend/">Ivy Tech</a> students presented their design ideas to Penny.  The phone line was installed.  We moved forward with the third floor with the help of Warren’s Uncle.  Penny and Warren even celebrated there seventeenth wedding anniversary by working on the building.  Yes this episode is action packed with construction mayhem and a little romance.

Cookin on The Kitchen
<a href="http://web.me.com/seegers6/SeegersEdificeVenture/Media/e10CookinOnTheKitchen.m4v"><img src="http://web.me.com/seegers6/SeegersEdificeVenture/The_Podcast/Media/e10CookinOnTheKitchen_1.jpg" style="float:left; padding-right:10px; padding-bottom:10px; width:210px; height:118px;"/></a>Season 1  Episode 10<br/>We finally had a plan in stone for the kitchen.  With the plan in place we started cookin’ on it’s progress.  We ran electricity, put backers up for the cabinets, <a href="http://www.ancoproductsinc.com/">insulated</a> and drywalled the entire  room.  Warren also found a <a href="http://web.mac.com/seegers6/SeegersEdificeVenture/Premo_Rock-Out.html">cool tool</a> that helps with cutting out holes for receptacles.  Of course Murphy’s law was mixed in with our progress but we still managed to work around  it.  With it being the winter months we were hammered with snow outside and inside the building.  Yes.... I said snow inside the building.  Penny also managed to arrange an interior decorating challenge for three <a href="http://www.ivytech.edu/southbend/">Ivy Tech (South Bend)</a> students to come up with ideas for the kitchen and greenhouse.

Home Improvement A.D.D.

We’ve Been Framed

Where Is Our Housing Stimulus

We demoed old drywall, removed old shutters, installed reused windows and began prepping for the greenhouse. Yon won’t believe the deal we found on windows at the <a href="http://habitatec.com/ReStore.html">Habitat for Humanity Restore</a> of Elkhart County. Penny also visits <a href="http://www.vimrecycling.com/">VIM recycling</a> in Goshen, Indiana to see how drywall can be turned into an agricultural soil amendment.
