Introducing Magai, an affordable AI tool suitable for small pet businesses looking to harness AI's power.   AI isn't a magic fix; it requires quality content input. While it excels at data analysis and predictions, it can't create compelling content on its own. Training the software to align with your brand and audience is vital. Customize it with your brand voice and values.   However, remember not to rely exclusively on AI-generated content. Human touch is crucial for customer engagement. Use it as a supplementary tool, not a replacement.   Consider outsourcing marketing tasks to experts to balance your workload. Embrace it's potential while staying true to your brand and maintaining personal connections with your customers.

Episode 299: Is Your Pet Sitting Software Working For Or Against You?
Jodi came to me wondering how she could get more clients. We took a look into her systems and found out that the way in which she is having people sign up was stopping the sale from happening. She was having to send UN and PW to a new user and while they were waiting for that to happen, they were finding other solutions. Her software was working against her. When you compare Jodi's sign up to Rover, the potential new client was able to sign up quickly and check off PET CARE for their trip to Cancun and be done with it. With Jodi, they were left wondering if she received their info and what the next step was. Her software was working against her. So much, that every year in the Mastermind, we actually go through five members' websites and sign up. We time how long it takes to sign up and if there are any spot points. There are some very popular software out there that actually STOP the sales process. Today, we are diving deep into ways that your software might be working against you. My goal is to make sure that your software is an asset to your sales process and not a liability. BTW - As I wrote these notes.... I wonder if anyone actually READS them. Will you send me an email to bella at jumpconsulting.net and let me know? Ok, onto the epsiode! :)

Episode 297: Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid To Job Share in 2022
Let's talk about job share... Job sharing can actually be a GREAT thing... and you already are probably taking on BIGGER liability in your pet sitting and dog walking business. This episode will give insight into a different way of thinking. Now is the time to be creative, think about how we are going to get our sales up. The big R (recession) is coming (or is it here?) and we have to think differently to achieve more. Some of you might say, "Insurance companies will not cover you if you job share." Well, that's FALSE. I reached out to my friends over at Business Insurers of the Carolinas and this is what he said: "I received your phone message. You are absolutely correct that you are still covered by insurance if job sharing. However I typically recommend if you are going to be sharing jobs with a nanny, a neighbor, a teenage son/daughter, or even another dog walker or pet sitter, that you get a release/addendum signed by the owner releasing you of any liability while others are also in and out of the home." The pet business industry has seen many claims involving theft of clients' property, as well as property damage, and injuries to pets. And typically we see them blamed on the insured pet sitter or dog walker. Especially when the person they share the job with does not have any insurance. As a result, we have seen claims denied as there was no concrete proof of who caused the incident. Both situations are not typically ideal, as it increases both liability and the potential for a denied claim if no proof can be established. So, it is certainly fine to job share if the client wishes to increase their liability exposure and do so. I do recommend amending contract language to have the client hold our insured harmless for liability or theft while others are in and out of the home." Episode 278: #1 Way to Increase Your Sales That Everyone Can Do
I've heard from many of you... I don't like answering the phone. I don't like being put on the spot. I don't like selling. I don't like talking about price. All of this is stinkin' thinking that is severely limiting your ability to grow your business. People literally make the decision to call and speak to a company. They put their environment on mute so they can ring you and potentially speak to you. If they are doing this, they have most likely already checked you out. They have seen your website, your social... and now, they just need a bit of reassurance. They are calling you for this reassurance and you are giving them a L for LOSING instead of a W for WINNING by not answering. This is the equivalent of walking into a store and needing help and having no associates to speak to. Or walking up to one to ask them a question and them just walking away from you. Not only is it rude, but it is frusterating. Then, you are expected to check yourself out. Can you imagine if that wasn't Walmart and it was Nordstroms? The horror. I know the idea of phone calls seems so ancient. We mostly communicate through email, text, and social media messaging. But what if I told you that the old-fashioned telephone has even more persuasion and would land you more new clients? Would you be willing to answer it more often? If you are a business that has your phone number listed on google and on your website, then you need to be answering the phones. But many of you are not. Why? This week I went on a mission to find out what is going on out there and made 10 phone calls to 10 different companies in the Phoenix and Dallas area. The results were astounding.

Episode 276: How I Am Dealing With A 7+ Year Troll… And What You Can Learn From It
Personal Podcast Today Lately, I have been getting questions about how to deal with Trolls. You know, those people that get upset at you and start trying to rip apart your character or credibility online? Maybe it is a person that you didn't hire, had to fire, or a client that just went sideways and you parted ways. But it turned them into angry monsters with many heads. Sure, you have heard of the typical ways to handle bad reviews. I've even written about it on my blog. But what happens when they are persistent? What happens when they don't go away or they try to disparage you on all platforms? This recently happened to one of my clients and she was perplexed on how to deal with it. We spoke in depth about it and it was then I decided to blow the lid off something that has been popping up on my own feed for at least seven years. I deal with this too... you just may not (or may?) know about it. I've had someone take something that I said on stage seven years ago and blow it out of context in multiple public forms for years. I've had another person who has a vendetta out for me that takes any chance she gets to say terrible things. (Funny, she has never been a client, but I have coached two of her direct competition to multi six figures and another to almost a million....so there is that.) I've even had another (what could have been) sticky situation that resulted in some crappy things being said online. In this podcast today, I tell you it all. No hold bars. I get real, honest, and vulnerable with you. It is my hope that sharing my story allows you to see that it happens to everyone and that despite their efforts, your business can still grow to multi six or even seven figures =)

Episode #253: The Secrets Behind Employee Scheduling
In this week's Podcast, I am going to talk about the secrets to make your employee scheduling more efficient. Don't be afraid, look at your SOP and employee handbook, do they set you and your employees up for success? Biggest Takeaways You Don’t Want To Miss How Does Your Business Handle Employee Route Schedules? Giving your employees the freedom to set their own schedules using time blocks can save time and money. However... are they trained to be able to do this correctly? Look at your systems and processes and ask yourself if you are just doing the work because you are afraid to let them take it over? SOP and Employee Handbooks Having an SOP and Employee handbook that streamlines this process will help you not have to micromanage. Employees will be more responsive if you are able to provide them with the trust that they can hit all their appointments as they need to and have you there to help them if they are unable to create their own route. Is Fear Controlling Your Decisions? Don't let fear be the thing that holds you back. Fear comes from the unknown so make things known. This helps you take those steps that desperately need to be taken to make your business more efficient and get the most out of your employees. They want to do good and help you but micromanaging can prevent them from being able to do this.

Choosing a pet sitting software is not an easy task. Maybe you're overwhelmed with all of the different options out there, or even tried them all but just can't decide. It's difficult to determine which features are important to YOU and then to match those needs up with software. In this episode of Bella In Your Business, I sit down with Kristin Young, where she shares her scientific process for successfully choosing a pet sitting software to use in your pet business. Kristin spent 20 years in corporate real estate and business. She "woke up" one day and realized she wanted to take control of her time and get away from the common cubicle. With two young kids and a supportive husband, she began the search for an income model that she could manage, grow, and LOVE. In January of 2019, she came across the opportunity to buy NOT ONE, but TWO cat-sitting companies, with the intent to merge them into a single business. Kristen uses her business experience to take a little of what she knows and a little of what she doesn't know to learn how to run a pet care business. One of the first steps was finding the RIGHT pet sitting software company.

Episode 233: How To Decide On A Social Media Manager
Biggest Takeaways You Don't Want to Miss: Social media is the storefront of your business and doing it on your own can be tough. Finding the time, knowing the strategies, and planning it all out takes a lot of time. Many pet sitting and dog walking businesses make the mistake of delegating their social media management to someone [usually younger] on their team when they don't know the first thing about managing a social media presence. Others may look to marketing agencies for help, only just to be sold a fantasy and end left empty-handed. When they do promote your business, they may not be in line with your brand (i.e. colors, logo) and your business' beliefs. That's why it's crucial to have someone who knows the ins and outs of the business. In this episode, we're diving into the importance of social media management & things to consider if you're going to: Manage your own social media Hire someone from your team Hire an outside agency I also explain the importance of how social media management can help or hurt your business. What most don't realize is that because you don't have a storefront, your social media IS your storefront and the way you show up online will either encourage people to hire you or repel them from doing so.

What is this all about and how can you do the same? This week, I moved my regularly scheduled content around to get you this time-sensitive topic. I reached out to Linda and Trevor who have over 60 years of experience combined in the financial services industries. Linda Rey has owned, bought, and sold a business, and Trevor has managed multiple businesses. They have seen what works and what doesn’t work when it comes to business financing especially now with COVID. They have helped many people through the loan process.  The questions they answer: Where does one submit their completed PPP forgiveness application? What happens if someone received the SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan (aka EIDL), how does this affect their PPP Loan? If someone was approved for a PPP loan and used 100% for payroll, why is there chatter of the SBA saying that they aren’t going to forgive $10k of the PPP loan because of the advance? Should I submit my PPP Forgiveness now or should I wait? I heard that PPP loans are going to automatically become 100% forgiven. Is this true?

One of the best ways to gain exposure to your pet sitting or dog walking company is to host or participate in a holiday pet event. But oftentimes we have no idea what to do, where to do it, or just feel like it takes way too much energy. When I used to have my company, Bella's House & Pet Sitting for 14 years, I would participate and host many events. These events gave me an opportunity to get my name out to the community and a good excuse to walk up to people and talk about my company in a way that didn't seem sleazy. Through a lot of trial and error, my events became very successful. With a little bit of my magic, I'm going to show you how hosting a holiday pet event can be successful in your hometown area too.

Episode 172: How To Build Trust In Your Pet Business On Social Media
The idea of being human is so obscure when you think of it. Obviously we are all human. However, nowadays it's becoming more and more necessary to prove that you are human. Especially when it comes to the internet and consistent technological advances. How do we remain human in a fast-paced technological world?  The answer isn't as simple as we would think. Remaining human has a lot to do with identifying who we are, what we represent and what we want our clients to see. Then, it's about transferring that human quality not only in face to face contact but through our social media as well. Thankfully, Bryan Kramer, the founder of the H2H movement as well as Keynote Speaker, TED Talk Speaker,  Coach, and CEO of H2H Companies, a Business Performance Coaching Company, came on the show to teach us more about human to human interactions and how you can build trust in your business on social media.

This week, I had the opportunity to speak with Angus Nelson, the Director of Development for Golden Spiral Marketing, as well as, the host of the "Up In Your Business" podcast and has spoken for brands like Walmart, Whole Foods, BMW, Coke, & Adobe. Since marketing was invented, the need for graphic design has been ever-growing. Today, I partnered up with Annette Mcdonald, the founder of Easil, an online DIY Graphic Design solution for brands and teams, as well as, MD of Copirite, a leading design, print & digital agency located on the Gold Coast, to teach you a little on how DIYing bad graphics could hurt your pet sitting brand.

Episode 150: 150 Episodes!
My goodness, 150 episodes of Bella In Your Business! That is days worth of me talking in your ears. When I started my podcast, my friend Shannon Hernandez had a podcast class, and me being the one to follow the trends I wanted to jump on it but I had no idea what I was doing. Sometimes the audio sounded like I was in a tin can and other times it sounded great, but I kept going. Biggest Takeaway You Don’t Want To Miss Just like anything in life you've got to keep chipping away little by little, that is what gets you places. Episode 147: Creating Balance with Work and Life: Myth or Truth?
Today I want to talk about balance, this mystical creature that everyone thinks exists but doesn't necessarily exist. While I was preparing for this episode I recalled a video called Everything is Spiritual, in it Rob Bell talks about how perfectly balanced the world is and it's so interesting to hear how if even one thing was different how it wouldn't work, it makes me believe the earth may be the only truly balanced thing. I think that balance is something we all struggle to achieve and as a mom, I think we struggle with this the most. We want to be at every event, but sometimes it's just not possible and then we end up beating ourselves up over it. Balance is a fairy tale and I want to get real about it.

Episode 20: Interview with a Small Business State Auditor
In this episode of "Bella In Your Business", Bella talks with Katrina Kadyszewski.  Katrina has over 16 years experience working in a variety of financial positions. She started in the brokerage industry with a Series 7, 63 and 65 and life and health license, and then transitioned to audit work for the CT Department of Revenue Services before leaving to support small businesses in their efforts to get organized for expansion. Katrina spent 3 of her almost 8 years with the CT Dept. of Revenue Services in the Business & Employment Tax Audit Unit, focused primarily on payroll tax issues. The last 5 years she worked as a Corporation Tax auditor, traveling across the US auditing largely Fortune 500 companies. They first discuss a big controversy in the pet sitting industry, which is misclassification of employees as either independent contractors or employees.  Katrina outlines some key indicators that they would look for in making that determination: Is there an actual contract between you and the contractor? Are your payments to them regular in nature? How much control do you have over them with regards to work hours, uniform, training, etc.? Do they offer the same services to other companies through their own business? Are you providing them all the tools, training and supplies they need? Essentially how loose is the relationship. They also discuss why they think business owners are so apprehensive about audits, what documents a business owner should have at their disposal if they are being audited, and whether business owners should take their lawyer and accountant to the  audit. Katrina alse gives some insight into what triggers an audit. Some resources they discuss are the IRS’s  20-factor test to help you determine employee or independent contractor, and amnesty programs that exist to help encourage to make the right switch.

In this episode of "Bella In Your Business", Bella discusses whether or not you should offer a discount daily dog walks. She covers points on both sides of the issue.   Bella starts by stressing that before even considering a discount for daily dog walks, you really should know just how much profit you make off of a dog walk or pet visit. She points out that many company owners aren’t fully cognizant of that number or even understand how the costs and profits are divided. Bella points out that some of the money goes to the employee who walked the dog (usually a fixed amount) and some of that money should go to your business to cover expenses and business profit.  Finally, some money needs to go directly to you the owner, so that you are paying your salary.
