#20 Mirroring - A Relationship Skill
<div>Today is a deep dive into the process of Mirroring, one of the most profound skills to use in relationship to facilitate connection and rapport. It's an extremely effective tool to use when there is tension or when you don't feel understood in your relationship. </div> <div> </div> <div> <div>The process as outlined by Harville Hendrix is a 3-step dialogue exercise you can do with your partner or with a close family member or any loved one to communicate about an issue or a disagreement that might be in the way of intimacy, fulfillment, and connection in your relationship.  This episode focuses primarily on mirroring, which is the first step because it's the starting point and the central piece; the part that supports listening to your partner without distorting his or her thoughts or feelings. Lisa is joined by <a href= "https://visualizationworks.com/about-victoria-lorient-faibish/">Victoria Lorient-Faibish</a> (Relationship Expert, Keynote Speaker, Author, Holistic Psychotherapist, Wellness Coach and one of the Creative Core Founders of the incomparable Positive People Army).</div> <div> </div> <div><a href="http://lisabl.com/20">FULL SHOW NOTES</a></div> <div> </div> <div>I'm collecting input for a future ongoing show segment called Listener Super Powers.  Here's what I'd love to get from you by email, DM or voice recording. </div> <div> <div> </div> <div>1. #17: The Power of STORY
<div> <p>This is an out-of-the-box show.  A Story...about the importance of Story.  And about the teenagers who spoke up at the March for our Lives earlier this month.  </p> </div> <div> <p>Stories have the power to help us reflect on our past, to connect with others, to express and share and create resonate emotions.  Stories empower, engage and heal and help us to imagine and fight for our future.  Stories can help us on the path to shifting our identities.  And stories can move us to action. </p> <div> <p>Finding our truth and taking a risk and showing up and getting on a platform--because as these kids have illustrated, is not only important and powerful-- is necessary!  Your story, no matter what it is matters.</p> </div> <div> <p><strong><a href="http://www.lisabl.com/17">Show Notes HERE</a></strong></p> </div> <p> </p> </div> <div> <p><strong>Resources:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Feedback and show ideas to hey@lisabl.com</li> <li><a href="https://www.facebook.com/SPUPodcast/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Super Power U Facebook Page</a></li> <li>Twitter <a href="https://twitter.com/LisaBL" target="_blank" rel="noopener">@lisabl</a></li> <li>Super Power U Podcast on <a href="http://bit.ly/SPU_iTunes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">iTunes</a>, <a href= "https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/lisabl/super-power-u" target= "_blank" rel="noopener">Stitcher</a>, <a href= "https://play.google.com/music/listen?u=0#/ps/Ia47y4t2agpkahc2et7wvag2h64" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Google Play</a></li> <li><span class="s1">The <a href="http://lisabl.com/podcast">Super Power U Podcast</a>. #15: Power of "PAUSE"
<div> <div> <div> <div>Today's solo show, <strong>The Power of "Pause"</strong> is for anyone committed to improving the way they present verbal information.  Communication skills are critical for anyone growing a business, building a brand, for performers and anyone wanting to have an impact in politics or education.  So if you ever get nervous in front of groups small or large, or if you need to speak from a podium with a script or extemporaneously, if you're a podcaster looking to upgrade your interviewing or solo show content there's something for you in this weeks' episode.</div> <div> </div> <div>At the end of the show, Lisa made an extra special offer to a select few listeners.  She's reserved seven personalized coaching sessions to the first listeners to claim them.  Just head over to <a href="http://lisabl.com/coaching/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">THIS PAGE</a> to book your session.</div> <div> </div> </div> </div> <div> <div> <div><strong>What You'll Discover In This Episode</strong></div> </div> </div> <ul> <li>Why "speak more slowly" is the wrong advice for fast talkers</li> <li>The low hanging fruit to improved speaking</li> <li>The 4 Reasons Pausing is so Powerful!</li> <li>How Punctuation informs Pacing</li> <li>A notation system to use with Scripts</li> </ul> <div> <p><strong>Resources and Mentions:</strong><img class= "wp-image-2092 alignright" src= "http://lisabl.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/LETS-EAT-GRANDMA.png" alt="" width="305" height="305" /></p> </div> <ul> <li><a href="https://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/smmworld/">Social Media Marketing World</a></li> <li>Louie Luc's <a href="https://incomeprodigy.com/podcast/">Online Business FM Podcast</a></li> <li>The Grandma Meme =></li> <li>A Shout out to <a href= "https://store.cdbaby.com/artist/PatLaCroix" target="_blank" rel= "noopener">Lisa's dad</a> and her early experience in "broadcasting"</li> </ul> </div> <div> <p><strong>Resources and Resources:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Feedback and show ideas to hey@lisabl.com</li> <li><a href="https://www.facebook.com/SPUPodcast/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Super Power U Facebook Page</a></li> <li>Twitter <a href="https://twitter.com/LisaBL" target="_blank" rel="noopener">@lisabl</a></li> <li>Super Power U Podcast on <a href="http://bit.ly/SPU_iTunes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">iTunes</a>, <a href= "https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/lisabl/super-power-u" target= "_blank" rel="noopener">Stitcher</a>, <a href= "https://play.google.com/music/listen?u=0#/ps/Ia47y4t2agpkahc2et7wvag2h64" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Google Play</a></li> <li><span class="s1">The <a href="http://lisabl.com/podcast">Super Power U Podcast</a>. #14: Pattern Matching with Christine Peterson
<div>Christine Peterson and I talked about SO many different things.  I shouldn't be surprised since we're both such generalists with wide-ranging interests.  We cover her experience at MIT, her inclination towards making a difference in the world, space colonization and space tourism, nanotechnology and the longevity movement. If that's not enough, we celebrate the power of learning to give public talks, work-life balance, Christine's secret to improved sleep and her unusual approach to finding a life partner.  Wow!  </div> <div> </div> <div>You can read the <a href="http://lisabl.com/14">SHOW NOTES</a> or join us to discover:</div> <div> </div> <ul> <li>How Christine's uses her Super Power and her framework for creating change in the world</li> <li>The 2 most powerful things you can to leverage your career in the early stages or at pivot point</li> <li>Why Balance is important and demanding a living wage is critical</li> <li>Christine's favorite Quantified Self sleep tool</li> <li>How to access Christine's Ebook on Finding a Life Partner </li> </ul>

#13: Knowing your WHY
<div>This episode is Lisa's first minisode, <strong>the Motivating Power of your "WHY"</strong> and it starts with a brief review of S.M.A.R.T. goals.  Refresher? Check out <a href= "http://www.techmamas.com/main/2013/09/tips-to-set-family-goals.html"> Lisa's guest post for TechMama's</a> on Tips For Family Goal Setting. </div> <div> </div> <div><strong>The Bad News</strong> is that achieving goals is difficult. Change is uncomfortable.  If you have a goal, you're going to have to work, get off the couch, turn off Facebook, say no to drinks after work or go to the gym when you'd rather have a snack.  I know!  Bummer!  So...</div> <div> </div> <div><strong>Gimme a Good Reason.</strong>  That's what we need to get past the discomfort. What's YOUR Reason? Maybe you think you already know, that it's obvious.</div> <div> </div> <div><strong>But Here's a Warning.</strong> Your WHY will be less effective if it's powered by shame or avoidance, or a "should". White-knuckling can work for a while but may not stick and negative language like reason's including "not" and "don't" generally fail too as Lisa mentioned in <a href="http://lisabl.com/4" target= "_blank" rel="noopener">Super Power U Episode #4</a>.</div> <div> <div> </div> </div> <div><strong>A Powerful WHY</strong> is inspiring or exciting, reflects where you're headed, where you want to go, the person you want to be and the life you want generates a feeling of adventure, pride, accomplishment, contribution, celebration, or inspiration and makes you feel good</div> <div> </div> <div>Three messages about the Power of WHY from <a href= "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOrr1BJswLQ" target="_blank" rel= "noopener">Tony Robbins RPM system</a>, Simon <a href= "https://startwithwhy.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sinek's Power of Why</a> and <a href= "http://www.rachelhart.com/podcast/compelling-reason-2" target= "_blank" rel="noopener">Rachel Hart's Compelling Reason</a>.  One of them might resonate more with you.  Hint: They all highlight the WHY as a central power point.  Lisa's favorite is from Rachel:</div> <div> </div> <div> <div><em>"A compelling reason is exciting, it captures your attention, it makes you think, I want to do this, I want to go for it. When you have a compelling reason, you're like, okay, when do we start? A compelling reason compels you to action, that's why it's called a compelling reason."  -</em> Rachel Hart</div> </div> <div> </div> <div>See <a href="lisabl.com/13">Full Show Notes</a> or Listen in to today's show to find out how to find your WHY and to hear a personal example from Lisa as she sets out to reincorporate her Goal of Intermittent Fasting (either a weekly 36-hour fast or a daily 18:6 fast) and follow along as she reviews how she uses the Knowing Your Why process to get excited about achieving that goal.</div> <div> </div>
