Episode 30 The Shameless Powerplay of Sexual Assault Predators
There is a hot and trending issue about the sexual assault case filed against the producer, director, and Miramax co-founder Harvey Weinstein. Wherever you are in the world, sexual assault is a grave offense that is mostly left unreported, especially if the aggressor is a very powerful and influential person. Sexist language and victim blaming are some of the unfortunate natural responses of the society that make most victims withdraw and suffer in silence rather than endure more shame and criticism by others. Today, I’m going to share the truth about the shamelessness of power plays, which is a means to satisfy people’s cravings for power. I also explain how the shame and powerlessness of the victims affect their balance and relationships - both personal and professional - and how the support of others for the victims or potential victims play a significant role in helping stop or prevent this abominable misconduct. When on a plane, it is a rule of thumb that you first put on your oxygen mask before helping others with theirs. This is the same principle that we’ve been discussing all throughout Selfish September to help you understand the redefinition of selfish, become aware of what avoiding bad confrontation can do for you, and knowing how you can protect your “me time.” On today’s episode, I share why you should be your unapologetic self, and how to use your passion in finding your purpose. I also explain how you can dig to find your ultimate purpose and eventually do better and be better in your relationships and your business. “If Jesus can take time out, what makes you think you can’t?” - Naketa Thigpen Access Show Notes for additional information  at www.balanceboldly.com

Episode 27 Setting Boundaries to Protect Your Me Time
Many people complain of burnout because of busyness but refuse to make time and prioritize their “me time.” Allotting exclusive time to yourself allows you to recharge and refuel so you can be the best you in your life, your relationships, and your business. To be able to do this consistently and effectively, you have to be strategic and deliberate when establishing good boundaries to protect your me time. On today’s episode, I’m going to share the different ways to create boundaries so you can do and accomplish the things that matter the most. I also discuss a system you can use to gauge any diversion and differentiate distractions from urgencies. Since you can’t change anyone but you, I also share specific practices you can try to protect your “me time” at work and at home. “Your boundaries are the most essential thing that you can do for yourself to really make sure that you’re keeping you on the top of that list.” - Naketa Thigpen Access Show Notes for additional information at www.balanceboldly.com

Episode 13-How To Gain Perspective and Thrive as an Entrepreneur
Do you find yourself feeling one sided while among a certain group of people that only know you as the person you used to be? Now that we have added an extra layer of success to ourselves, we have to break those expectations and start seeing things from different perspectives. The shame that comes right before the success of many entrepreneurs is embedded within our perception of how we view the complexities of our lives while we work towards our goals. Although we understand that success isn’t over night and there will be a curvy and often steep road others view our endeavors as less socially acceptable. For example, when someone asks you about your business venture, the first thing they ask is, “How much money have you made?” Versus, the socially acceptable action, attending college, people ask, “How is school going?” They never ask about your failures like they do with entrepreneurs. With perspective we find that both situations offer valuable learning experiences, but I have to tell you with my 12+ years in college, I learned way more in the first 6-8 months of being an entrepreneur. Joe Pardo joins us today as we talk about adding perspective to his family business, his past life experiences and going and being Super Joe without shame. Joe Pardo proves when you work for something that you are passionate about, you don’t have to try and be super, it just comes with the territory. Join in on the conversation as we learn to #shaketheshame as entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial leaders....
