Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 55
Boxing 2017 Review - The TalknShoot Boxing Podcast edition number 55 begins the process of looking back at the highlights from 2017. The podcast starts with a review of the monthly calendar, January thru November. Though we may have missed a fight or two here along the way, the list is pretty comprehensive and all of the big fights for 2017 are covered. It has been a year that has seen a great deal of retirements from the sport. Wladimir Klitschko, Andre Ward, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto and Tim Bradley all hung up the gloves during the 2017 calendar year. This will make the hall of fame inductions in a few years very interesting and it also had the effect of giving us an exciting year of wide-open boxing action.

Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 54
We look back at October 28th and WBA and IBF world champion Anthony Joshua's latet title defense against France's Carlos Takam. There is no doubt that on the business end, Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn cleaned up. The fight took place in Manchester's masive Principality Stadium and that gives Joshua two straight sellouts of two different soccer stadiums in England this year. The fight aired on Showtime in the USA and on the SKY Box Office PPV service in the UK. More important than anything, Joshua notched the victory which sets up the next big pay day. Can you say star?

The cruiserweights do close out in New Jersey as Murat Gassiev (24-0) takes on Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (53-3-1). This is the last of the quarter-final bouts as Mairis Briedis of Latvia, Oleksandr Usyk of the Ukraine and Yunier Dorticos of Cuba all advanced to the semi-finals. Usyk dispatched Germany's Marco Huck, while Briedis and Dorticos delivered early knock outs to advance in the tournament. Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 50
Mayweather vs McGregor Post Fight TnS #50 - The TnS Podcast hits episode #50 and this one is dedicated to last weekend's Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor PPV fight. So, the so-called "superfight" went down and at the end of the day, Mayweather Jr logged his 50th professional win against zero defeats fighting a novice. McGregor deserves credit for his effort but it was clear his boxing level topped off somewhere in the mid-range. This showed up in two very noticeable spots. First of all, the devesating striker McGregor was reduced to doing a lot of point boxing and slapping because he doesn't hit very hard with this footwork. McGregor had improved his MMA conditioning heading into the second Nick Diaz fight but that type of conditioning where ground fighting is involved did not prepare McGregor for twelve rounds of boxing.

Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 49
Mayweather Jr vs McGregor Fight Week - TnS Podcast #49 - The waiting is almost over as Floyd Mayweather Jr and Conor McGregor are finally set to meet this Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight is expected to break box-office records for a combat sport PPV and those expectations have led to an unprecedented level of hype during the severa months of build-up we have had. The podcast asks the question whether beating the existing record of 4.4 million PPV buys that Mayweather Jr scored when his dance partner was Manny Pacquiao is a reasonable goal. The bottom line is that a good bit of the boxing world is turned off by the bout and shelling out $100 may be too much for boxing heads.

Burroughs makes his picks for the week as well as helping you set your fantasy team. Our host record stands at 60-41-7 for the year. Burroughs dishes on this week’s action on all the tours across the world. This week the PGA Tour stays in the Lone Star State for the DEAN & DELUCA Invitational. Defending champion, Jordan Spieth is joined by Masters champion Sergio Garcia, fan favorite Phil Mickelson, Paul Casey and Emiliano Grillo in a betting field that includes eight of the top 30 in the world rankings. The European Tour hosts their flagship event at the BMW PGA Championship where the strongest field of the year pegs it up. The PGA Champions Tour heads to Washington, D.C. for the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship and the LPGA Tour travels to Ann Arbor, Michigan for the LPGA Volvik Championship. Burroughs Predictions for the DEAN & DELUCA Invitational PICKS to WIN JASON DUFNER +1800 is the horse for the course this week in Texas. He hasn’t won here, but in nine appearances, he’s got three top 10’s, which include a P2 and a T6. Duff is in a groove making 11 straight cuts, with eight top 25’s. He finished T13 last week at the AT&T Byron Nelson. Jon Rahm +1100 seemingly plays well every time he tees it up, well almost every time - he did shoot 84 in his last round at THE PLAYERS Championship, but it does happen to everyone and it finally did to the young Spaniard. The former ASU Sun Devil gets back on track on a ball-striker’s course and picks up his second career win. Yah, a win! GOLF MATCHUP to BET Kevin Tway -115 vs. Si Woo Kim -115 Kim will be getting all the attention playing for the first time since his epic win at THE PLAYERS Championship. He will be answering questions about his win, about his back issue that forced him to withdraw from last week’s AT&T Byron Nelson and will be in a place he’s not accustomed to being in, especially at 21-years old. Who has played better than Tway over the past month or so? Not many! The former Oklahoma State Cowboy and son on major winner Bob Tway, has finally started playing the type of golf we thought he might after he turned pro. In his last five starts, he’s really come into his own - T32 - T3 - 3 - T5 - T20. That’s pretty solid golf. TWAY all DAY! Burroughs wraps up No. 55 by talking about high school golf and the Iowa State High School Championship where the Lake Panorama Panthers look to defend their title in the 2A division. Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 43
Canelo vs JCC Jr Wrap Up and More - This past Saturday night boxing fans were supposed to get a "war" between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Unfortunately for the fans that shelled out nearly $100 per pay-per-view, the fight did not resemble a war at all but rather a glorified sparring session between a couple of guys about to split a couple of million bucks. Alvarez was in charge from the start of the fight as it became evident that Chavez Jr was not a threat. The fight was set at a catch weight of 164.5 pounds and Chavez Jr certainly appeared to show the effects of the weight cut. Chavez Jr was the taller, longer man but he could not use that to his advantage because he was also slower and weaker. Miguel discusses that and much more this week, so tune in as usual!

Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 38
Rating Deontay Wilder TnS Boxing Podcast #38 - This past Saturday night in Birmingham, Alabama WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder returned to action as he faced Gerald Washington in the main event of a Premier Boxing Champions fight card that aired on CBS. The CBS platform means that nearly 2 million viewers saw the fight where Wilder started slow before connecting on the punch that ended the fight in round five. Many are criticizing his performance, especially the frantic ending of the fight that saw Wilder throwing punches like a swimmer, but it was Wilder's first fight back since rehabilitating multiple injuries to his right arm and at the end of the day, he got the job done. After the fight, Wilder stated he would be watching April's WBO world title fight between champion Joseph Parker and England's undefeated Hughie Fury and that he would target the winner for a title unification bout. One heavyweight who came out of Saturday's event with his reputation on the mend is 18-1 Dominic Breazeale who scored a 5th round KO over Izuagbe Ugonoh in a hard fought slug fest that can only be called a crowd pleaser. For Wilder, the most lucrative fight of all will be with Anthony Joshua, who owns the IBF version of the world heavyweight title and has become the sport's biggest draw. Joshua has the biggest fight of his life coming up next when he faces Wladimir Klitschko at London's Wembley Stadium. Klitschko held the majority of the unified world titles for nearly a decade before he lost to Tyson Fury at the end of 2015. Klitschko is now 40 and he has not been in the ring for more than a year but he deserves credit and respect for taking this fight. The first weekend of march sees London hosting the heavyweight showdown between David Haye and Tony Bellew. This is a bit of a grudge match as the two have engaged in a war of words since before the fight was signed. In the ring however, many are dismissing the fight and all it's possibilities as Haye is considered to be a top 10 heavyweight despite five years of inactivity while Bellew is seen more as a cruiserweight champion who is moving up for a fight he has little chance in. Recently crowned WBO champ Parker is defending his belt at home in New Zealand against Hughie Fury, the cousin of Klitschko vanquisher Tyson Fury. Many insiders will tell you that Hughie is the more grounded and more talented of the two cousins but we haven't seen him in close to a year. Parker looks like he will play "hometown hero" again for this one as the fight is slated for his home country of New Zealand.

Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 37
February 8th of 1888 saw the birth of Adolphus "Ad" Wolgast in Cadillac, Michigan. On President's Day, February 22nd of 1910, Wolgast became the lightweight champion of the world when he defeated Battling Nelson in Colma, California in a fight that lasted into the 40th round before the referee stopped the fight. The fact is that Oscar "Battling" Nelson was a big deal in 1910. He had been the world lightweight champion for several years by virtue of his even more famous encounter with Joe Gans, a black world champion who was revered as the "old master." Nelson became a sports media star as his exploits were covered in the newspapers from ocean to ocean. Nelson. who was from Denmark and went by the name of the "Durable Dane" had a bit of an education and he penned his own newspaper columns and even an autobiography. What he didn't seem to realize is that his rise in celebrity gave him a target on his back and the "Michigan Wildcat" Ad Wolgast was one man who was coming for him. In July of 1909 the pair would meet in a non-title bout that meets every cliche - Wolgast, the younger, hungrier fighter took it very seriously and made a good showing while Nelson appears to have underestimated his opponent. Nelson insisted on the length of the fight, insisting that his famed durability would carry the day. Little did he know that Wolgast was a fighter cut from the same cloth. That first bout built up animosity for the second bout and by the time the two men met in the ring on February 22nd, 1910 the two really did not like each other. What they did that day transcends the annals of combat sports history because as the two men toiled for more than two hours they were reaching the limits of human endurance. There is nothing like a fight of 40 rounds in the sport of boxing today nor has there been for more than 100 years. a true look at both Wolgast and Nelson reveals that both men suffered the ravages of the wars they fought in their latter years, with Wolgast's end particularly tragic.

The first major women's boxing match of 2017 goes down this coming Saturday, January 14th as Brooklyn's own Amanda Serrano faces Mexico's Yazmin Rivas with her WBO super bantamweight women's world title on the line. The fight is one of the feature bouts on a major boxing card promoted by Floyd Mayweather Jr and Lou DiBella at Brooklyn's Barclays Center this Saturday, January 14th. 2016 was a standout year for Serrano (30-1-1), who went 4-0 and captured world titles in two different weight classes. For this fight, she faces the experienced Rivas (35-9-1), who has held world titles in two different weight classes herself. The card features two men's world title fights as super middleweights James DeGale and Badou Jack clash in what is being labelled a title unification bout and super featherweight world champion Jose Pedraza defends his title against the challenge of 22 year old Gervonta Davis. The two men's bouts are sure to appear on the Showtime broadcast (check you local listings for start times), but it is not clear whether Serrano vs Rivas will be aired.

For all the latest golf odds and predictions, never miss an episode of Burroughs’ insightful advice and hilarious observations into the greatest game of all, GOLF! Burroughs starts Podcast #36 by discussing the new rule change that the USGA and R&A will put into effect January 1, 2017. Basically, it should be called the “Dustin Johnson Rule” after the USGA botched last year’s U.S. Open that could have cost Johnson the title. The new “Local Rule” will help the players and speed the game up. Burroughs talks about the progress of Tiger Woods and his recent play at the Hero World Challenge, and makes predictions for next year’s Masters. Golf Undigested Golf Rankings - Volume 1 1. Dustin Johnson - the most Athletic golfer of his generation. He adds another major this year. 2. Hideki Matsuyama - Finally figuring out how good he can be, still only 24 and a major win on the horizon. 3. Rory McIlroy - Always a contender anytime he tees it up, however, I don’t think he wins a major this year. 4. Jordan Spieth - The Texan is going to have a monster year and return to the No. 1 player in the world. 5. Patrick Reed - Brass Balls! He needs to win more and use his Ryder Cup domination in a positive, but not cocky way. 6. Henrik Stenson - The best ball-striker in the world! His putting hold him back. 7. Adam Scott - Second best ball-striker on the planet. He can dominate for multiple weeks when he gets hot. 8. Alex Noren - Former Oklahoma State product, the Swede won four times on the European Tour last year. 9. Sergio Garcia - He’s always in the mix because he’s solid as a rock in all phases of the game. 10. Jason Day - I have the No. 1 player in the world as my No. 10. He’s always hurt or sick and his back is a real concern heading forward. Just Misses! Brooks Koepka - Hits it a mile and his recent success at the Ryder Cup will go a long ways. Big Year! Rickie Fowler - Always in the mix, but needs to win more to be truly elite. Look Out! Tiger Woods - still ranked in the 600’s, I’m curious to see how far he climbs by the end of the season Jon Rahm - He already is ranked No. 137. He will win this year and spring into the top 50. Our host wraps up Podcast #36 by making a few bold predictions for the upcoming year and talks about golf in Costa Rica with two special guests, Juan Marin, the assistant pro at Cariari Country Club and collegiate player, Jose Mendez who plays college golf at the University of Minnesota. Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 32
Bernard Hopkins Tribute - This past December 17th at the Forum in Inglewood, California a legend took his last step into a prize fighting ring as 51 year old Bernard Hopkins faced Joe Smith Jr in the main event of HBO Boxing's end of the year offering. Hopkins is certainly heading to the hall of fame, but he likely did not picture his career ending the way it did this past Saturday. Smith Jr, a man 24 years younger came out and showed Hopkins respect in the early going, even ceding a few rounds to the "Executioner." In the eighth round however, Smith Jr trapped Hopkins along the ropes and unloaded with a flurry that sent Hopkins down and out of the ring and into boxing history. Interestingly, Hopkins also started off his career with a loss in 1988 and after that it was 18 months before he even returned to the ring. This bookend loss last Saturday came after a 25 month layoff and sadly, it was clear that despite Hopkin's defiance throughout the years father time had finally caught up to him. That and more on this week's edition of the Talk-N-Shoot Podcast.

Talk N Shoot Podcast -Episode 31
2016 Heavyweight Closer - This past weekend saw heavyweight boxing take center stage as two world title fights were contested. England saw IBF world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua make short work of American Eric Molina in the headline fight of Eddie Hearn's big boxing card at the Manchester Arena. Joshua moved to 18-0 with an easy third round TKO of Molina who was hapless and prone on the ropes when the referee stepped in to save him. Molina had a reputation as a crafty veteran who had gone 9 decent rounds with WBC champion Deontay Wilder last year, but he was able to do absolutely nothing with Joshua in a performance that can only be labelled embarrassing. Joshua was joined by Wladimir Klitschko in the post fight celebrations and Joshua versus Klitschko was announced for April 29 of next year.

Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 30
Heavyweight December - The December boxing calendar is filled with heavyweight action, and in this latest Talk'n'Shoot Podcast we look at all the fights set for December in boxing's glamour division. The big show comes on December 10th in Manchester as IBF world champion Anthony Joshua (17-0) defends his title against Eric Molina (25-3). The bout will be the second title defense for Joshua. The 27 year old won the belt last April with a second round stoppage of Charles Martin, and he defended the belt in June with a seventh round stoppage of Dominic Breazeale. Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn made a serious attempt at luring former champion Wladimir Klitschko to London for this December fight, but big Wlad is sidelined with an injury. The choice of Molina was not met with a lot of support, but it will give Joshua a common opponent with WBC world champion Deontay Wilder, and Wilder is certainly on Joshua's list of potential 2017 opponents.

Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 29
Kovalev vs Ward Post Fight - This past weekend's ligt heavyweight showdown between Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev lived up to expectations in my book. The two fought a tense, measured battle for 12 rounds, and neither man was unscathed at the end. Kovalev struck early, sending Ward to the canvas in round two with an efficient counter to the face. Ward stayed with it and followed his game plan, which involved roughing up Kovalev on the inside. The decision went Ward's way in the end, but most observers felt that the champion Kovalev had done enough to retain the belts that were in play. [related_post_one] A good portion of episode 29 is dedicated to talking about judging. The under card bout between Maurice Hooker and Darleys Perez was judged a split draw a one of the judges actually had Hooker winning the fight 97-93. This was one of the most blatant recent cases of where a judge just flat out gets it wrong. And the commissions not only do nothing about it, they continue to make up rules like preventing judges from using a 10-10 score for even rounds to forcing 10-8 rounds for a round with a knock down. This type of rule makes it easier to judge, especially if you don't actually know what your judging. In Ward's case, the judges all returned identical 114-113 scores and the fight certainly was a close fight but people are questioning what the judges saw. Maybe it is the entire system of commissions and choosing judges that needs to be looked at.
Kovalev vs Ward Post Fight
The Podcast also goes back to a familiar subject, and that is boxing's heavyweight division. The heavyweights will be front and center in December, with a pair of world title fights on the books as well as several other contenders competing. Though the line-up doesn't include any earth shattering match-up, there is a lot of jockeying for position that is going to go on. December 10th sees IBF world champion Anthony Joshua return to action to face Eric Molina. Big Luis Ortiz, coming off a lackluster showing in Monaco, returns on a month's notice to face David Allen, and Dillian Whyte will be facing Dereck Chisora.

NCAA Football Throwdown Podcast - Episode 10
The NCAA Football Throwdown Podcast is back for another weekend of action. Your hosts Ej the Rainmaker and Erik the Hun bring you the 10th edition of the Throwdown Show, and there is much to discuss around the landscape of college football this weekend. We start with the two Friday games taking place, as Cincinnati and Memphis get the night started. UNLV and Boise State play the late game on the blue turf, and we offer plays for both games. Our Saturday discussion starts with the game at Folsom Field, as Washington State takes on Colorado in a huge Pac-12 encounter for both teams. The line has fluctuated during the week, and it moved as high as -5.5 for the home team as we took the air. Think dog maybe? The SEC has a big clash taking place at Tiger Stadium, as LSU welcomes Florida to Louisiana as 15-point favorites. We break down this big match, and our hosts have opposite plays to offer. Kansas State heads to Baylor in another big game that holds weight in the Big-12, as Baylor continues to try to salvage their season. A three-game losing streak has seen the Bears fall to 6 - 3, and the loss of starting quarterback Seth Russell doesn't help matters much. Oklahoma goes to Morgantown to take on West Virginia, as both team battle to represent the division in the Big-12 title game. Ej suggests a nice home dog here, as Erik looks towards the total. San Diego State and Wyoming face off in Laramie, with this too being a big game in the conference for supremacy in the Mountain West. Wyoming played UNLV to a 69 - 66 game last weekend after the madness of overtimes, so what do you think made the board in this contest? The Honorable mentions and the big dogs of the weekend round out the show as usual. So sit back and enjoy the previews of all the big games being played this Saturday, and we hope you enjoyed another College Football Throwdown!!

Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 28
Kovalev vs Ward Prefight - There are few fights in the last several years that have received more build-up than this Saturday's Sergey Kovalev vs Andre Ward light heavyweight title fight on HBO pay-per-view. HBO signed Ward to a three fight contract in October of last year, and since then the plan has always been to have Ward meet Kovalev for the third and final fight. Ward has been plagued by inactivity the past five years, but he closed out the 168 pound super middleweight division and this fight sees Ward try to establish himself in the next weight class up. The first two fights of Ward's HBO contract were used to give Ward a pair of fights to acclimate to the new division. Ward fought Cuba's undefeated Sullivan Barrera and Colombia's once beaten Alexander Brand, winning both fights comfortably by decision. Comfortably, but not in electrifying fashion. For his part, Kovalev also fought two bouts to stay busy as he took out Jean Pascal for a second time and then went on to decision Isaac Chilemba in a fight that saw Kovalev return to Russia for a fight for the first time since December of 2011. Both fighters got the job done, and HBO allowed it to happen. All year long the fight has been simmering. Bob Arum and Top Rank were ready to pull out all the stops for their November 5th Manny Pacquiao PPV against Jessie Vargas and they eventually did. They had to run with the PPV without HBO aboard, as cable executives elected to not clutter the calendar with another PPV date in November. Arum distributed the PPV without HBO, and the word is that the buys are right around 300k for Pacquiao vs Vargas.

GMS College Football Throwdown Podcast - Episode 9
The NCAA Football Throwdown Podcast is out once again. We are up to Episode 9 of the season, and Ej the Rainmaker and Erik the Hun bring you all you need to know about the games surrounding week 11 of the College Football Season. Three big games that kick off at high-noon on the east coast start off the broadcast. We start with the Baylor vs Oklahoma game at Memorial Stadium, where the Sooners appear as 18 point favorites in a big Big12 showdown. Baylor's Shock Linwood made national news after punching one of the coaches, which landed him a suspension for the big meeting in Norman on Saturday. Our hosts then turn their attention to another showdown at Memorial Stadium, except this one comes in Texas. The Horns host West Virginia in another huge Big XII clash that holds some weight for both squads. Texas is looking for their sixth win which holds bowl eligibility, and West Virginia has only tasted defeat once all season, coming in at 7 - 1. The total makes the board for both of our hosts in this contest. Another Memorial Stadium makes a mention on the show, and this one comes in Indiana. The Hoosiers face Penn State at Indiana's Memorial Stadium, where Penn State comes in as 7.5 road favorites. LSU heads to Razorback Stadium in an SEC clash that where a low-scoring battle is expected. Let's see if we have a 'not so fast' moment when it comes to this contest. Tulsa and Navy make our discussion list as well, as we expect more points than the scoreboard can hold in this game. The honorable mentions and dogs of the week bring us to the end of the show as usual, so sit back, enjoy an ice cold Dr. Pepper while you enjoy your college football weekend. May the bets, be with you! Make it Rain! Take it Down!

Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 27
Pacquiao vs Vargas Wrap Up - The end result of last Saturday's Manny Pacquiao vs Jessie Vargas Top Rank Boxing pay-per-view card is basically "Manny's back." Pacquiao won a comfortable unanimous decision over Vargas to take the WBO's World welterweight title and add it to his considerable resume. At 37 years old, Pacquiao looked quick and he was able to send Vargas to the canvas early in the fight. But it was a good performance, not a great one. Vargas was clearly in trouble with Pacquiao's speed, which at 37 still remains impressive. The problem with that is that Vargas was never a fighter who was known as fast. But the guys in the weight neighborhood that do have elite speed have to notice that Pacquiao is starting to age. It also bares noticing that it is now going on seven years since the last time Pacquiao won via stoppage.

Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 26
Yes, you are reading the title of this podcast right. 'Heavywait' Boxing - The heavyweight division in boxing is in a state of chaos, and with the recent news that Wladimir Klitschko now wanted to fight sometime in March or April, it makes another heavyweight who is shelving the rest of the 2016 calendar year. Good going Wlad, wait until after you turn 41 to fight again, why not? Klitschko had been talked about as a December opponent for IBF world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, and Klitschko had apparently had an alternate plan of facing undefeated Australian Lucas Browne for the vacant WBA world belt. The negotiations with Joshua saw British promoter Eddie Hearn take the lead in trying to make the fight happen, but Hearn has now been left with a short list of B and C level opponents because his gamble did not play out. Hearn is a practical shoo-in for "Promoter of the Year" and he has elevated Joshua to the point where he has become boxing's biggest box-office attraction, but at this point he is looking to get Joshua in and out of the ring safely for Decembe,r title pand perfect record intact. The list included David Price, Dereck Chisora before Hearn finally settled on Eric Molina (25-3). Molina was a September of 2015 victim to WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and he is coming off an April KO of Polish veteran Tomasz Adamek. With an eye towards a future meeting between Wilder and Joshua, Hearn is wise to choose Molina, as it starts to give the two men common opponents. Molina is taking the fight on relatively short notice and he is expected to be a huge underdog at the sports books.Yes you are reading this right.... This is the

GMS NCAA Football Throwdown - Episode 7
The NCAA Football Throwdown Podcast is back again this week, although we come to you a little earlier than normal. Your co-hosts Ej the Rainmaker and Erik the Hun get you set for another big weekend of college football action, highlighting the big games going on as the bowl season quickly approaches. This week, three Friday games lead us into a hostile weekend of football, with plenty of big games to discuss and preview. We start with Navy vs South Florida, and continue on with the San Diego State vs Utah State game. The Air Force team total is going to make this broadcast, and that is all you will need to know headed to Saturday's slate. West Virginia and Oklahoma State kick off the high-noon games at Boone Pickens Stadium, and the guys offer up a play on the total to take advantage of. Washington and Utah meet in a big Pac-12 battle, and the Huskies are strongly favored at Rice Eccles Stadium, expected to continue their undefeated run beyond this weekend. Nebraska and Wisconsin have a 7 p.m ET kickoff at Camp Randall, with the Badgers favored by 9 against an undefeated Cornhusker squad who feels disrespected by the line setters' expectations. Clemson and Florida State wrap up the big four featured games of the weekend, as Clemson goes in to Doak Campbell as -4.5 favorites, also expected to remain undefeated by the experts. But will they? Ej offers up a good bundle of plays to take advantage of outside of the featured games discussed, and as usual the dog of the weekend hits the board with a play from the Sun Belt Conference! Erik also offers up a handful of honorable mentions, with his own surprising doggie pick of the weekend himself. Sit back, enjoy, and take full advantage of the action the guys give out once again on the Get More Sports College Football Throwdown Podcast! Because you can!

Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 25
The Klitschko vs Joshua talks have been shut down! The possibilities of a premier heavyweight "superfight" between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko had promoter Eddie Hearn working overtime for the last several weeks to finalize, but his effort has apparently had no success. The date has been moved to December 10th and the Manchester Arena appears to be the site, but the final agreement between Klitschko and Joshua has not been reached. Now it appears that the fight will not happen. News is hitting the internet that Wladimir Klitschko has signed to fight Lucas Browne in Hamburg, Germany on December 10th for a vacant version of the WBA world title. Hearn will now be hunting an alternative opponents for Joshua. Hearn would be foolish to let a young 26 year old champion sit out and not fight because of semantics. The IBF's #1 contender is New Zealand's Joseph Parker, but news from the WBO's 29th annual convention in Puerto Rico is that they have sanctioned Parker vs undefeated Andy Ruiz Jr (29-0) for New Zealand on December 10th.

The Golf Undigested Podcast with Clark Burroughs, a former PGA Tour player and proud Ohio State Buckeye, dishes out his latest news and musings in the world of golf. For all the latest golf odds and predictions, never miss an episode of Burroughs’ insightful advice and hilarious observations into the greatest game of all, GOLF! Burroughs starts off podcast #34 by talking about the Ryder Cup that saw the United States win for just the second time in the last 10 years. He discusses the status of Tiger Woods return that was suppose to be this week at the Safeway Open, until he withdrew on Monday, citing short game woes. In Europe, Burroughs gets us up to date on this week’s British Masters, where Matthew Fitzpatrick is the defending champion. GREEN LIGHTS for the SAFEWAY OPEN - PGA Tour - I like all LONGSHOTS! GREEN LIGHT: Patrick Rodgers +6000 went to college at nearby Stanford and had success here a year ago. He finished T6 and will look to get off to a hot start to the season in what could be a huge year for the young man. Daniel Summerhays +8000 is another young player that churns out top finishes but has yet to win on the PGA Tour. Tournament director Johnny miller went to BYU and so did Summerhays. I have a feeling it’s going to be a big week for BYU. Bryson DeChambeau +8000 earned exempt status on the PGA Tour and will immediately make an impact. Last year he was surviving on sponsor’s exemptions and now that he is exempt, he can free wheel it and let his natural talent take over. Big things for him this year. FADES for the BRITISH MASTERS One player to shy away from is Andy Sullivan +4000. Another of the defeated European Ryder Cup team, Sullivan skipped last week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship so this is his first start since Hazeltine where he was one of four Euros to end up with zero points. His confidence is gone, his game is erratic and he will once again disappoint his fans by missing the cut this week. FADE Sullivan! The days of Lee Westwood playing elite status golf are over. He stunk it up at the Ryder Cup and stunk it up last week in Scotland by shooting 82. His mental state is a complete wreck and having to deal with a nasty divorce has to be weighing on his mind and distracting his form. FADE WASHED up WESTWOOD! Our host wraps up Podcast #34 by making a few bold predictions on next year’s majors and giving listeners a few tips on sand play and hip rotation at impact. Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 24
Pacman vs Vargas Preview - This latest edition of the Talk'n'Shoot Boxing Podcast sees us look at the upcoming Top Rank PPV featuring Manny Pacquiao vs Jessie Vargas for the WBO world welterweight title. Pacquiao had announced his retirement after his April fight with Timothy Bradley closed out their trilogy, but he is back just six months later here to face Vargas. Vargas is a good fighter with a 27-1 record, but the fight has been received in lackluster fashion by the boxing world. Pacquiao showed in April against Bradley that the shoulder that hampered him against Floyd Mayweather Jr has healed, but his drawing power looks like it took an irreversible drop after that fight. HBO PPV passed on distributing this fight for Top Rank as they had Pac-man's previous offerings and that is another sign that the Pacquiao name is not what it once was in the U.S. market. The live event is scheduled for the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on November 5th, and there are two additional world title fights on the bill. WBO world super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (37-3) defends his belt against undefeated Jessie Magdaleno (23-0) and WBO world featherweight titlist Oscar Valdez (20-0) makes his first title defense against Hiroshige Osawa (30-3-4). A Donaire loss could be seen as a symbolic passing of the torch.

Closer By Committee Podcast - Episode 1
The Closer by Committee Podcast hits the air on Get More Sports, just in time for the beginning of the Major League Baseball post-season. Our co-hosts Michael Wottreng and Eric Cain deliver their first segment that highlights the final day of Major League Baseball for the 2016 season, with the play-off picture now set in place. There was still plenty of meaningful baseball on the final day of the regular season, as the Orioles and Giants secured the final two wild card spots on Sunday. The Cleveland Indians clinched home field for the ALDS, and the Atlanta Braves said goodbye to Turner Field after 20 seasons with a 1-0 shutout win over the Tigers. Baseball said goodbye to a legend in Vin Scully as the 88-year- old called the last baseball game of his storied career. As the Giants beat the Dodgers 7-1, America cherished every last word Scully said as baseball fans will not have the pleasure of hearing the Hall of Famer for his 68th season in the booth. Dick Enberg also said goodbye to the Padres broadcast booth today after holding the position since the 2010 season. Enberg’s career has seen witness to ESPN, CBS, NBC and countless other affiliations. Baseball fans also tipped their caps to a future Hall of Fame player in David Ortiz. The longtime Red Sox designated hitter played his final regular season game at Fenway Park—concluding what is statistically one his best years at the plate. Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 23
Heavyweight Division Aftershock - It has been a week of division-changing news for heavyweight boxing, and the 23rd edition of the Talk'n'Shoot Boxing Podcast focuses on the latest happenings in pugilism's glamour division. The news started with the announcement from WBO and WBA world titleholder Tyson Fury's camp that he as pulling out of his October 29th rematch with Wladimir Klitschko. Klitschko is now 40 years old, but he has been pushing for this rematch with Fury since he lost to Fury last November. Fury has been acting flaky ever since his big victory and the match has been on again and off again several times. The fight was made and booked for July but Fury sprained an ankle and the fight was subsequently moved to the October date. Now Fury's mental state is in question as he is suffering from depression and his trainers have stated that Fury will not fight until at least 2017. Klitschko's age makes this a critical point in time. Klitschko is not likely to have 4-5 fights left in him, and he needs a big fight and a worthy opponent to make things worthwhile. A win over Fury would avenge the loss and return several of his world titles to his possession, and he is pushing to find another opponent. In steps Eddie Hearn and Matchroom boxing, the promoters of Anthony Joshua. Joshua has been reserving a November 16th date and has no fixed opponent set, so he is available. As IBF world champion, Joshua holds a belt previously held by Klitschko as well, and the 26 year old undefeated phenom has become one of boxing's brightest stars.

Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 22
Fury vs Klitschko 2 Cancelled - The Talk'n'Shoot Boxing Podcast is back with it's 22nd edition, and the main subject of the podcast is the recently announced cancellation of the October 29th world heavyweight title re-match between Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko. Fury famously captured a slew of world title belts from Klitschko in November of last year, and the re-match has been in the works ever since. The match was originally talked about for the April timeframe, and it was eventually put on the books for July, but Fury suffered a sprained ankle while doing roadwork that led to the postponement of the fight until October 29th. Now word is that Fury is suffering from "depression" and he has pulled out of this fight as well. The cancellation puts the heavyweight division into turmoil. IBF world champion Anthony Joshua will benefit from Fury's fall and there is already talk of the young champion stepping up and filling in for Fury against Klitschko. This weekend, Joseph Parker (20-0) meets Alexander Dimitrenko (38-2) in New Zealand for an IBF title qualifier that will leave the winner in a spot to challenge Joshua. That, and so much more this week going on in the world of boxing.

Talk N Shoot Podcast - Episode 21
Canelo vs Smith Wrap - HBO Boxing brought us the Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs Liam Smith WBA world light welterweight title fight this past Saturday, and the in-ring action saw Alvarez dominate the WBA beltholder on his way to a 9th round stoppage. Smith was game heading into the match-up, but early on it was apparent that he did not have the fire-power to hurt Alvarez. From there Alvarez turned methodical, slowly breaking his opponent down and delivering more and more punishing punches. The first knock down came in the seventh round, and Smith went to the canvas in the eighth round after a hammering body blow. Alvarez landed the finishing body shot the following round. The fight ended with the referee waving the count off while Smith lay writhing on the mat in pain. The live event was held in Arlington Texas' massive AT&T Stadium, the home of Jerry Jones and the NFL's Dallas Cowboys and the paid attendance was reported to be 51,240. The more interesting figure will come later in the week when the number for pay-per-view buys is estimated. The figure is going to be a good measuring stick for the true state of boxing today, as Alvarez is considered the biggest draw out there. His last PPV, back in May when he faced Amir Khan, sold 660k ppv buys and it is an open question whether this fight will come in with more or less buys than that. Smith was a world champion and an undefeated fighter, but he was not even a blip on the radar in the American market prior to this past weekend, so all the buys for this PPV are on the name "Canelo." With Smith stepping out of his comfort zone and fighting outside of England for the first time, the now former WBA world champion deserves credit. But how much credit? A lot of British boxing pundits have gone so far as to call Smith "world class" based on Saturday's performance, and here at TnS, we delve into whether our British friends are guilty of a little bit of partisan overrating. Do not miss Talk'n'Shoot's Boxing Podcast #21 - The Canelo vs Smith Wrap Edition!

Canelo vs Smith Preview - The boxing calendar heads into September, and the majority of the big fights are programmed from now until the end of the year. Last week, the HBO double header featuring Roman 'Chocolatito" Gonzalez vs Carlos Cuadras and Gennady Golovkin vs Kell Brook kicked off the last third f the year, and this coming weekend sees the huge Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs Liam Smith PPV match from Cowboys Stadium. We spend the first have of the TnS podcast discussing last weekend's fights. Gennady Golovkin forged another knock out for himself against Kell Brook, who fought gamely but was taken out in the fifth round by the aggression of Triple G. Brook received a broken eye orbital bone in the fight, and Golovkin dropped a round or two early to Brook before eventually flooring the gas and taking the British fighter out. Golovkin has been declared the mandatory challenger for WBA champion Daniel Jacobs. The WBA would not sanction the Golovkin vs Brook bout due to the weight difference, but they moved quickly after Golovkin's victory to try and make Triple G versus Jacobs. Jacobs is in need a a marquee opponent, anmd he is coming off a stronf and decisive win over Serio Mora in a rematch this past weekend as well. Smith is the one in a unique position to play spoiler here, but the sports books are not realyl giving him uch of a chance, with Alvarez coming in a strong -1200 favorite for the fight as we approach the weigh-ins.

Respect The Hustle - Episode 25
This week on the Respect the Hustle Podcast, host William Whelan asks why in the world there’s such a difference in the programs we discuss and remember for basketball dominance and those we discuss and remember for football dominance. As the college football season has gotten underway, many of the most familiar programs have once again stated their case for being amongst the national elite. Title contenders include Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, and others that, quite frankly, always seem to be in the national discussion, one way or another. Why, then, are the nation’s best athletic departments on the football field so often unable to experience the same type of successes on the basketball court? None of the Blue Bloods of the college basketball world are considered CFB powers and vice versa. Is there a specific reason for this? Can it change? When dives into the topic full on. The first theory has to be related to recruiting and the places coaches must hit to find the top talent, respective to their sports. Where is the best high school talent? How about for basketball? Whelan says evidence shows that the regions are different, giving different programs and schools advantages relative to their own sport. While Whelan may not be ready to provide definite, final answers as to why some programs excel in one sport over another, he does make the call on which schools may be the best bets to experience success in both moving forward.

Last Saturday, fans of technical boxing were treated to a strong showing by WBO 140 pound champion Terence Crawford as he won a wide unanimous decision over formerly undefeated Viktor Postol. Crawford was a strong favorite at the sports books, but many people gave Postol a chance if he could fight his fight, which meant establish a jab and make things ugly on the inside to slow Crawford down. Because of how technical and precise Crawford was for all twelve rounds, Postol was able to do none of those things. Look for Crawford to move up the Boxing Rankings to #1 at 140 lbs

Deontay Wilder Edition- The Talk 'n' Shoot Podcast is back with it's fifteenth edition and we look back at last Saturday night's Deontay Wilder versus Chris Arreola fight for the WBC world heavyweight title. The fight was Wilder's fourth defense of the belt he has held for a year and a half now, and the fight aired on free TV in the United States as the fight was shown on FOX. Arreola is a solid veteran who had a 36-4-1 record heading into the fight with Wilder. Many people thought Arreola did not deserve the fight, and WIlder was a huge betting favorite heading into Sturday's contest. Unfortunately for Arreola, the fight's script played out poorly for him, as he was a step behind Wilder the entire fight. Wilder was able to maintain his distance, using a powerful jab to manage Arreola' position all night long. Arreola's face was showing the damage early, and he was sent to the canvas in the fourth round. Arreola survived and he did not go down again, but his corner called off the fight at the end of the eighth round to save Arreola from more punishment. Afterwards Arreola creditted Wilder, saying "I never figured him out."

Talk 'n' Shoot Podcast #12 - The Boxing podcast is back, and this week we are talking about the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, New York. The IBHOF, as it is called, has its 2016 induction ceremonies scheduled for this weekend, from June 9th until June 12th. This year's inductees are led by Hector "Macho" Camacho, the Puerto Rican fighter who is sometimes remembered more for his wild ways and lifestyle than his boxing prowess. Nevertheless, Camacho could fight, as his final record of 79-6-3 attests. He held world titles in three different weight classes and he faced many of the greatest fighters of his era including Oscar De La Hoya, Roberto Duran, Julio Cesar Chavez, Felix Trinidad, Greg Haugen, Sugar Ray Leonard and Edwin Rosario among others. Unfortunately, the induction comes posthumously, as Camacho was shot and killed in November of 2012. This year's class comes with a distinct Latin feel as the other inductees are Lupe Pintor of Mexico and Hilario Zapata of Panama.

The WBC turned around and handed the belt to Gennady Golovkin, and thwe whole series of moves and counter-moves has left the boxing world with the "Canelo" vs "Triple G" showdown a lot further away from happening. The whole episode has appeared to heap negative reactions on Alvarez, who is perceived to be avoiding a fight with Triple "G". For their part, the Golovkin camp is said to be looking for a big money fight at 160 lbs, but he is having trouble finding a dance partner. Alvarez best fits that bill, however Alvarez and his camp may feel that fight is better suited for May of next year, where Alvarez maximizes his monetization during Mexican independence day week.

Join us for the Talk 'n' Shoot Boxing Podcast #3 where we take a more in-depth look at this weekend's fight. Pacquiao versus Bradley 3 will air on HBO pay-per-view and one interesting number to look at will be how many ppv sales the fight generates. The last time we saw Pacquiao was when he faced Floyd Mayweather Jr in the fight that generated more revenue than any other fight in boxing history, and that generated over 4 million pay-per-view buys. Mayweather was widely considered the "A" attraction in that fight, and because it was such a huge disappointment, Floyd's subsequent fight with Andre Berto saw his numbers drop considerably. Bradley is not a huge draw, so the number will be largely generated by Pac-man's drawing power. he will still have his hardcore fans, but will his crossover appeal be damaged? Let's answer those questions and more on the Talk 'n' Shoot Podcast.
