Selling Music From Your Website Is The Highest Priority
What's good people?!?! This week on The Str8OutDaDen Podcast we decided to lose the guest and talk one on one about why you should sell your music from your website. This week we focus on the importance of album artwork. Over the years people have asked me why don't blogs pick up my music? Should I Abandon Selling CDs w/ Sola
Throughout the years we have seen music grow and most importantly, we have seen how music is consumed. From vinyl to 8-Track, tapes to CDs, MP3s to streaming and whatever new technology on the horizon. However for this week's podcast we focus on the one audio format that took the world by storm during the early 80s and well through the 90s and early 2000s...CDs or compact disc. As an independent artist, the goal is to get your music in the consumer's hands while staying well within your limited budget. So should you do away with a technology that's fading away? Cut your loses and put more money in merch? Well I say no and the reason why is inside. We breakdown the current forms of audio formats: vinyl, CDs, Digital Albums (MP3s) and streaming, while giving you ways to exist in every market. Do Live Shows Really Matter? w/ Zulu FaZ
By now you should have heard this name mentioned quite a few times lately on Da Den. Trust me its for good reason. Our latest guest on the podcast, first made his way on Da Den back in March with a record entitled “Coolest“. Lazies meet Zulu FaZ. Now residing in Atlanta, the Zimbabwe born emcee shares his story with us. We got very specific in his journey to music, that included stepping out on faith and moving to the city. We also spoke on his transition from producing to rhyming and the importance of connecting with the people through live shows. Definitely worth ALL 80 minutes. Oh and how could I forget that the homie freestyles over classic instrumentals from Keith Science. So you know the drill…sit back…Relax and Listen! THIS PODCAST WAS SPONSORED BY CLASSIK CLOTHING. Make Atlanta Proud w/ Scotty ATL
First off I want to say that this is an older podcast that we did with the homie Scotty ATL last year. This was a classic convo and I thought it would be a good idea for our Soundcloud family to take a listen again. For me to call him a dope emcee would be an understatement. He is more like a good person, business man and a force in hip-hop. You may be familiar with his F.A.I.T.H. mixtape that dropped recently, but we went a little deeper. We went back to Summer Dreams, those skits on the Jiffy Cornbread Experience, his relationship with Trinidad James and we even got Mac and JRoc to chime in on the issues going on in our community. Of course we got a freestyle. So you know the drill…sit back…Relax and Listen! The Origin of The Winning Team
Back when we started this podcast; one of the first people I sat with was Abib Jahleel and TRUTH of The Winning Team. During that time Coop had just dropped a dope project by the name of PimpTightPlaya and shortly after was in the military. He missed that first convo, but luckily for us all he was in attendance along with Abib and TRUTH for our latest podcast. The Winning Team spoke on how they crew came to fruition, gave us some insight on their upcoming album The Losers Win Again and broke down how they are becoming a one stop shop indy label. Oh and we couldn't forget about the bars. Listen as the whole crew goes in over the classic MC Lyte "Brooklyn" instrumental. If that didn't jog your memory, that's cool because we learn everything there is to know about Spooks McGhie. From being homeless to being arrested to overcoming it all with his amazing talents. The Atlanta resident takes us through his personal testimony. To say this one is dope is a true understatement...don't believe? Relax and Listen for yourself. Sitting In A Hot Car In The Middle Of Summer w/ Chiiirp
For our latest podcast we traveled far away from Da Den. Instead we took the show on the road literally; recording from the comfort of my car. Our guest fit the mold perfectly for our unconventional recording method for this interview. Lazies meet Chiiirp. The Detroit native now residing in Atlanta, met me in Little 5 Points to talk about everything from art, music, life and the meaning of those "iii" in her name. We started off the podcast reminiscing on how I first came to learn about who she was and from there on, things feel in place. We even got into a new segment called "Art Speak", as tried my best to interpret Chiiirp's paintings she brought along. Very dope episode to say the least and we capped it all off with her freestyling to some of my beats right off the laptop. So hey you know the drill...sit back...Relax and Listen! A Lot Of Smoke, Even More Freestlying w/ Macon Hamilton
Usually on the Str8OutDaDen podcast emcees breakout in a freestyle session at the end before we leave. Well not Macon Hamilton. As I walk into his place the music was already playing and once we hit record bars ensued. But this wasn't the end for the homie. He continued to freestyle throughout the podcast and truly showed his passion for the craft. We did manage to get his insight on life and how he started rapping. East Atlanta's New Ambassador w/ Michael Aristotle
For our latest podcast we traveled to the east side of Atlanta to visit Michael Aristotle. As I sat at his dining room table we began to chat about his new project What Tomorrow May Hold and the process along with the changes this album went through. I made the comment that the project takes after the good kid m.A.A.d. city album by Kendrick Lamar and the convo took on a life of its own. We also got into how Michael got his start in music and who had a major influence on him wanting to become an artist. We also got his take on if Biggie and 2Pac was still alive; would the music scene be the same? Of course we closed it out with some dope bars.
