The whole gang is back together for the best episode ever! We start by covering Jenny's cosplay adventures in Disneyland, then recap the Gabbing Geek squad's dominance at trivia night before jumping into a trailer discussion of the New Mutants movie. As the title suggests, Jenny won't watch the new Star Wars trailer. We talk about why and then play a game where Watson and Ryan take turns making Jenny choose between options as to what appeared in the trailer. We don't tell her the right answers so you shouldn't either!

Like what you're hearing? Be sure to share this podcast with your friends and give us a review on iTunes over at http://bit.ly/gabbinggeek

Be sure to check out our awesome new web site at http://gabbinggeek.com/ where we have tons of stories and articles about the geekiest content you want to read!

Feel free to email us at gabbinggeek@gmail.com, tweet us @gabbinggeeks, or join in the Facebook conversation at http://bit.ly/facebookgg

Gabbing Geek 121: Sweet Streams Are Made Of These

There's been a ton of news in the streaming video world: Netflix acquired Millarworld and lost Disney, then Robert Kirkman signed an exclusive deal with Amazon. What does it all mean for the future of geek content and how many monthly subscriptions are we going to have? Plus, we can't let that fourth episode of Game of Thrones go by without talking about it, so we're gabbing GoT once again!

Gabbing Geek 118: The 2000s

It's been two years since we had an episode look back at an entire decade's worth of pop culture, so it was time to bring it back with a look at the naughts, the nothings, the 2000s. We bust out some RODs (Rent/Own/Delete) for movies, then pick our favorite theme songs, and wrap it up with another Jenny Trivia game that's bound to stir up controversy.

Gabbing Geek 116: Fantasy Game Of Thrones Death Draft

Love Game of Thrones? Then you'll love our latest episode where Ryan, Jenny, Watson, and special guest geek Tom Kelly participate in a Fantasy Game of Thrones Death Draft. We drafted seven characters each and the characters score if they die during the upcoming season 7 of Game of Thrones. And there's some strategy involved because the longer a character lives then the more points they'll earn--but only if they die. And because characters can come back to life, they can die multiple times and score each time they die! Who will live? Who will die (this season)? And what picks will make Jenny scream in outrage the most? You'll find out with this episode!

Gabbing Geek 111: Geekonomics

You know what happens when Jenny goes on vacation leaving just Watson and Ryan to record a podcast? That's right--numbers, numbers, numbers! In episode 111 (or 7 if you speak binary), the Y-chromosomes talk about manly things: our box office prediction game, how opening weekend multipliers have fallen over the last 20 years and what that means for the movie industry, and Watson leads a game of seeing whose box office is bigger.

We've also put up some special content related to the episode over at http://www.gabbinggeek.com/2017/05/30/gabbing-geek-111-geekonomics/

Gabbing Geek 37: TV and Movies

Gabbing Geek Episode 37 is winning all the awards just on our incredible episode name: TV and Movies. Because we’re talking all about TV shows and movies—unlike every other week ever on the podcast. We start off with our Geekiest News of the Week (GNOW) where we cover, that’s right, TV. What geek shows have been cancelled, what’s been renewed, and what new shows are coming out in the Fall that have probably already been cancelled by the time you hear this podcast?

Geek Mail is back with a vengeance with not one, not two, not even four, but THREE geek mails to read! How many times will Jenny break out with her Bane impression this week during the emails?

Next up it’s time to revisit those geek blind spots we identified back in episode 33. We cover the first trade of Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing run, the classic and amazing movie Krull, followed by the only slightly less amazing movie Aliens.

And hey, speaking of James Cameron (he directed Aliens but you knew that), we finish up this episode with another List of Truth. This time we’re ranking the seven movies James Cameron has directed. Which movie ends up on top? There’s only one way to find out!

Gabbing Geek 36: Everything Is Not Awesome

Gabbing Geek is feeling those post-Ultron blues with Episode 36: Everything Is Not Awesome. We start off with GNOW (Geekiest News of the Week) with our coverage of The Death Of Superman Lives: What Happened?, an awesome documentary about the unmade Superman movie starring Nicolas Cage. The documentary was made by Jon Schnepp and our own Jenny and Watson got to see the movie, attend a Q&A session, and Jenny even asked an awesome question! We’ll have the rest of the Q&A audio posted on Friday over at GabbingGeek.com. Oh, and we also cover the Boba Fett standalone Star Wars movie losing its director.

We then launch our newest bit: General Grievance. In which we air something that has been bothering us in a way that we don’t in every other segment we’ve ever done. First up: Jenny is super annoyed that the Target boxed set of Avengers from Age of Ultron doesn’t have Black Widow. It also doesn’t have Vision but Jenny is a droidist so she doesn’t care about that--Black Widow she cares about. A LOT.

With that out of our system, we turn now to the June version of our over/under Rotten Tomatoes line game. Jenny and Watson each guess whether the movies Jurassic World, Inside Out, and Ted 2 will receive a Rotten Tomato score higher or lower than the line Ryan sets. The suspense, the drama, the numbers. It’s all there.

Finally, it is time to discuss Age of Ultron in our latest MRIYASIODCAS (Movie Review If You’ve Already Seen It Or Don’t Care About Spoilers). If you haven’t seen Age of Ultron—WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! If you have seen it, come join us as we recap what we liked, what we didn’t like, and what we think is next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Gabbing Geek 34: Blind Leading the Blind

It’s the Blind Leading the Blind episode as we engage in a healthy and spoilerific conversation about Marvel’s Daredevil, but only as the last bit just in case you haven’t finished. Why haven’t you finished though? That’s a mistake.

We start off with our Geekiest News of the Week (GNOW) where we cover the rash of incredible geek movie trailers that have come out the past few weeks. We cover five of them: Jurassic World, Ant-Man, Fantastic Four, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and some indie film Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

Next we each cover our two moments of movie zen--those times you’re flipping through the channels and you come across that one scene, your favorite scene, of any movie, and it makes you stop flipping and watch.

Then comes a painful moment in the podcast. We finally come clean about what happened to The Gabbies. Our epic, and not inexpensive, end of year geek award show that we promised you months ago. You haven’t heard it air and now you’ll find out why. It all came down to what happened during the In Memorium segment of the show…

With that out of the way now we can move on to our epic discussion of Marvel’s Daredevil. We cover what we liked, what we didn’t like, and what we’re looking forward to seeing more of come season 2 next year!

Gabbing Geek 33: Taxholes

Recorded on Tax Day, Episode 33 is lovingly called Taxholes. Because reasons.

We start off with our Geekiest News of the Week (GNOW) where we cover developments on the female superhero movies Captain Marvel (writers!) and Wonder Woman (lost director!) before giving our initial impressions of episode 1 to Daredevil. Ryan lays down the law and there are NO SPOILERS in this discussion. Which was good for both Jenny and Watson’s sake.

Then, through the miracle of modern technology and the amazing power of the pause button, we jump our podcast into the FUTURE because your three favorite podcasters (that’s us!) got to see a special advance screening of the new social media horror flick Unfriended. Find out what we thought in this spoiler-free but totally baller VIP review!

We fall back into the past to pick up our conversation with a Batman casting game. We know who has played Batman in the modern movies--but who *almost* played Batman in the films? Find out!

Our last bit covers some geek blind spots, or holes in our geek knowledge, by bringing back a special gamified version of Top 3. Each podcaster picked three geek blind spots and then the other two vote on what we will watch or read for our next blind spot discussion in episode 37 (that’s in 4 weeks for Jenny). But here’s the trick: if the two voting podcasters agree, that’s what we read/watch; if they disagree then we read/watch whatever the voters DIDN’T vote for! The horror! Find out what we picked so you can join us for our next blind spots discussion in episode 37!

Gabbing Geek 32: The Hill

Episode 32 has some good news and some bad news. The good news—we figured out which microphone has technical problems. The bad news—we found out after we recorded it was Jenny’s mic and we lost a good chunk of her audio. Ouch and sorry Jenny. It’s on after about a minute, then turns off about 10 minutes in before coming back at the 25 minute mark for good. This will not happen again, sorry about that.

But for our actual content we start with the Geekiest News of the Week (GNOW) where we cover the digital release of all three Star Wars movies and our new take on George R R Martin. Bottom line: he’s a jerk.

Ryan leads the gang on a fun new game: Best Elite Test of Spelling or BETS. It’s a geek spelling bee with some point wagering on your opponent! This week’s BETS topic: Star Wars planet. Who will win our amazing prize?

After some Geek Mail we bring back our Pitch Please segment. In honor of Watson’s 40th birthday today, we each pick a geek property over 40 years old that we feel should be given some geek Viagara and brought back to life. Will your favorite old geek property be covered? Listen and find out!

Gabbing Geek 30: Future Directions

Gabbing Geek 30: Future Directions takes you directly into the future as it was our first live streaming podcast sent out via Meerkat. Be sure to follow us @GabbingGeeks to see future streams. Sadly, our podcast was without one Jenny because she was sick with fever. And so we postponed our Geek Rematch of Close Encounters of the Third Kind one more time. We will absolutely get to it in Episode 31. Unless we don’t.

In our Geekiest News of the Week (GNOW) we sigh over our collective #ReadyPlayerOnegasm as Steven Spielberg has been announced to direct the movie based on the beloved book. Will he actually direct the movie and who’s betting it won’t happen? We also cover the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Russo brothers have been announced to take over for Joss Whedon in directing Avengers Infinity War parts 1 and 2 once they finish that Captain America: Civil War film that starts next month. Is this a good move for the post-Whedon MCU?

Because Jenny isn’t around to keep Ryan and Watson from geeking out over numbers, Ryan put together a game where we look at three upcoming movies and try to guess what their Rotten Tomatoes scores will be. Ryan presented Watson with some comparable and then an over/under line for Furious 7, Paul Blart 2, and Avengers Age of Ultron. With a cup of coffee resting on each movie, who will bring home the caffeine?

Finally, you can’t talk about the future without talking about aliens. Well, I guess you could but why would you do so on purpose. So we played another game where Ryan listed some planets in science fiction and fantasy and Watson had to guess what movie, TV show, book, comic book, or other geek property the planets came from. How did Watson do? How would you do? How do you do? Fine? Good.

Next week is the Geek Book Club on Ready Player One and the Close Encounters rematch. We 100% guarantee it at least 50% of the time.

Gabbing Geek 29: South By Batsoup

All of Austin is abuzz with South By Southwest and Gabbing Geek is no difference as we present Episode 29: South By Batsoup. We start the show with three important announcements: that the Close Encounters re-watch has been moved to Episode 30 (we’re not pointing fingers except it’s all on Jenny), that the Ready Player One book club is still on for Episode 31, and that next week we’re going to try out the buzziest app from all of SXSW—Meerkat. Stay tuned to our website and Twitter (@gabbinggeeks) for more info on how you can watch us podcast live on Meerkat next week!

In our Geekiest News of the Week (GNOW) segment we cover some awesome augmented reality for comics tech that Jenny saw at SXSW while Ryan discusses the good and bad of the SXSW Gaming Expo. Watson was on special assignment in New York City this past weekend and brought back gifts from a “Tom Kelly.”

We then turn to a fun new Watson game where Jenny and Ryan take turns trying to guess which fact applies to the five different men who have played Batman on the big screen. Then we turn to our latest List of Truth where we rank the 13 Superman and Batman films of the last 5 decades.

Don’t forget to join us for our Geek Rematch of Close Encounters of the Third Kind for Episode 30 and our Ready Player One book club for Episode 31! And stay tuned to the website and Twitter feed for more details on our Meerkat broadcast!

Gabbing Geek 28: Clue, Death, And Taxes

It turns out there are three inevitabilities in life and Gabbing Geek 28: Clue, Death, And Taxes covers all three. In Geekiest News of the Week (GNOW) we (finally? ugh) cover Clue in the Academy Awards, the passing of beloved geek icon Leonard Nimoy, and cross our fingers that Harrison Ford never flies a small plane again. Things turn a bit dark as we even bet on what geek celebrity is the next to pass away…until a sole voice of reason says we shouldn’t do that. And then totally gives in and joins the bet.

On the taxes front, we each take turns ranting about something in the geek universe that we find taxing. Who picked Marvel superhero movies? Which one of us picked The Big Bang Theory? And who choose the selective use of science?

Our rants complete, we turn to a fun game of Geek Brewster’s Millions. We update and geekify the Brewster’s Millions game from 1985 and now you have to spend $65 million in only 30 days, in some geeky way, and end up owning nothing in order to win ten times that amount. How does Watson, Jenny, and Ryan spend that money to win the prize? You’ll find out!

Don’t forget to join us for our Geek Rematch of Close Encounters of the Third Kind for Episode 29!

Gabbing Geek 27: Changing Minds

It’s a full house for Gabbing Geek 27: Changing Minds! In Geekiest News of the Week (GNOW) we cover the long awaited second book by Ernie Cline--Armada! And we announce our second Geek Book Club: a (should be) reread of Ready Player One.

We have a double dose of GeekMail where we welcome new listeners and announce our first Geek Rematch—we’re all going to rewatch Close Encounters of the Third Kind for an upcoming episode!

In a new segment we also provide some geek recommendations. Each of the three podcasters recommended a book/comic, a movie/tv show, and a game for you to geek out on. If you’re looking for some new content to get your geek on, here’s a list for you!

We finish up with a great game where Ryan gives the original titles of well-known movies to Jenny and Watson to see if they can guess what movie it ended up being. Sure, Revenge of the Jedi is an easy one, but do you know what movies were originally called $3,000 or Night Skies or Star Beast? Listen and find out!

Gabbing Geek 26: 21st Century Oscars

Gabbing Geek celebrates the Academy Awards with Episode 26: 21st Century Oscars. Jenny is on special assignment but we somehow managed to avoid having Ryan and Watson just talk about box office numbers for an hour! In our Geekiest News of the Week (GNOW) we cover Neil Patrick Harris’ ongoing tweets about the movie Clue, Spider-Man rejoining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Ryan’s upcoming guest appearance on the Comic Book Club Live podcast.

In honor of this weekend’s award show, Watson and Ryan each give their predictions for who will win the top 10 Academy Awards (well, the ten we picked anyway) before presenting a fun List of Truth where we collectively rank the 13 Best Picture winners of this century. Yes, there have only been 13.

Gabbing Geek 25: Old Enough To Rent A Car

Gabbing Geek hits the quarter century mark with Episode 25: Old Enough To Rent A Car. In our Geekiest News of the Week (GNOW) we cover the new Marvel A-Force and Better Call Saul. A new GeekMail has us talking Gotham before we break out our latest List of Truth. This week we rank the seven Steven Spielberg sci-fi/fantasy classics (not including Indiana Jones because we covered those under Lucas).

Because we love Guardians of the Galaxy not only for the movie but also for the soundtrack we all decided to try and predict two songs that will appear on the soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy 2. We even describe the context of the songs and have a lot of fun listening to some awesome tunes of the 70s and early 80s.

The last part of the podcast is a fun new game where Watson pretends to be a douchebag hipster poet creating wicked rhymes to describe superheroes. Jenny and Ryan have to decipher the sick lines to figure out what hero is the subject. It’s highly snap worthy.

Gabbing Geek 24: Martian Reading Rainbow

The Martian Reading Rainbow has an absolutely epic Gabbing Geek Book Club session on Pierce Brown’s Red Rising and Golden Son. But before we get to that we cover the Geekiest News of the Week (GNOW). This week we talk about the upcoming Teen Titans…oh wait just Titans…TV series on TNT. And we also revisit a little survey that Jenny started thinking that the Internet would rally to her side about Temple of Doom being better than Last Crusade (spoiler: Jenny was wrong).

We also play an absolutely riveting game of Guess the Author. It’s the first time for this fantastic game and we’re sure you’ll love it. We’d also like to announce the retirement of the Guess the Author bit on Gabbing Geek.

In our Gabbing Geek Book Club discussion of Red Rising and Golden Son we cover…well, you’ll just have to listen. Because we don’t want to spoil anything for those few who are so silly because THEY HAVEN’T READ SOME OF THE BEST BOOKS EVER! But rest assured we have some fantastic questions around the two books and where the series is heading. We even hold a casting call for who we’d put in 15 of the best roles from the epic series.

Gabbing Geek 22: Box Office Bombshells

What happens when Jenny is on special assignment, leaving just Watson and Ryan to record Episode 22? That’s right—WE’RE GEEKING OUT ON BOX OFFICE NUMBERS! This episode, Box Office Bombshells, starts with our GNOW (Geekiest News of the Week) on the record-breaking performance of American Sniper. We both review the movie and couldn’t be farther apart in terms of ratings.

Many months ago the three Gabbing Geek podcasters played a game predicting how the holiday movies would perform at the box office. We recap the results and the dominant victory by one player as we go into our predicted top ten grossing films of 2015. We have an amazing year of movies ahead of us—Jurassic World, a new James Bond film, new Pixar, Pitch Perfect 2, Minions, and many more. Oh, and two little films called Avengers Age of Ultron and Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Which movie will take the 2015 box office crown? You’ll hear it here first!

Our top 3 segment morphed into something completely different as Watson and Ryan seamlessly blend our Marvel Cinematic Universe rankings into a single Top Ten Marvel Movies List. How does it stack up to your rankings?

Like what you're hearing? Be sure to tell your friends and give us a review on iTunes over at http://bit.ly/gabbinggeek

Be sure to check out our awesome new web site over at http://gabbinggeek.com/ where we have tons of stories and articles about the geekiest content you want to read!

Feel free to email us at gabbinggeek@gmail.com, tweet us @gabbinggeeks, or join in the Facebook conversation at http://bit.ly/facebookgg

Gabbing Geek 19: The Gift That Keeps On Giving

The Gift That Keeps On Giving is our second holiday special where we focus on the other best part of the holiday season: gifts! First in GNOW (Geekiest News of the Week) we cover some Lord of the Rings news (apparently, there’s news) and we play a fun LOTR casting game, the confirmed Star Wars Episode VII names, and the ongoing fallout from the Sony hack (and yes, we recorded before The Interview was pulled from all theaters).

We revisit an issue from last week—whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie—with some actual data from our survey, then we head into a special Geek Gift segment. First we each describe the geek gift (that doesn’t exist) we would give someone else and then we give actual gifts to our fellow podcasters. You won’t want to miss the reactions.

Garcia and Watson each take turns trying to guess five of the names on Jenny’s cheat list (out of 30!) before we head into our Top 3 favorite holiday gifts of all time.

Like what you're hearing? Be sure to tell your friends and give us a review on iTunes over at http://bit.ly/gabbinggeek

As always, feel free to email us at gabbinggeek@gmail.com or you can reach us on Twitter @podcastgg or our Facebook page at www.gabbinggeek.com.

Gabbing Geek 11: This One Goes To 11

Like a Spinal Tap amp, our latest episode is “This One Goes To 11.” In GNOW (Geekiest News of the Week) we cover the real world hoverboard, an older Arnold in the fifth Terminator movie, and an epic real world celebrity encounter by our own William Watson with Neil Patrick Harris weighing in on the great Clue quote debate. We also cover last week’s amazing movie news—from Civil War possibly coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the tidal wave of DC movie news: Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League parts one and two, Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, Cyborg, and Green Lantern, not to mention three Lego movies and three more movies in the Harry Potter-verse. And, of yeah, more standalone Batman and Superman movies to come along with a full slate of Vertigo films including Sandman. Wow, that’s a lot to cover. So we cover it all. Then we move on to our Top 3 funniest moments of all time from movies (not Clue!) and TV.

Like what you're hearing? Be sure to give us a review on iTunes over at http://bit.ly/gabbinggeek

As always, feel free to email us at gabbinggeek@gmail.com or you can reach us on Twitter @podcastgg or our Facebook page at www.gabbinggeek.com
