Second Chance...12 Home Snowmakers Left
A couple weeks ago I ran a short "Final" home snowmaker sale for<br />the season. Somehow, upwards of 300 people on our email lists <br />never got word. I don't really know what happened but I don't<br />have time to monitor another round so I've alerted the guys that<br />ship them out for us that we will basically run the sale again<br />until they are all sold out.<br /><br />We have 12 left at the moment, some people have asked about refurbs<br />and demos they can get a good deal on. We'll likely be keeping<br />those for testing, so the 12 we have left is all there is.<br /><br />The price on those last 12 is $269 each. Here's the link:<br />http://www.snsnowmaking.com/final/?xyz=4<br /><br />Thanks again for a great season, we appreciate your support :)<div class="blogger-post-footer"><br /><br /><hr /></div>

The Dream: Polar Peak Backyard Ski HIll
About 12 years ago when I was just starting to really stack up the failures with my own try at home snowmaking, I found Polar Peak, a backyard ski hill that had been created by the Herishko brothers on their family farm.<br /><br />Snowmaking was a dream, but only part of it. I always wanted to complete the full picture (snowmaking, rope tow, ski hill) and would visit Polar Peak's <a href="http://www.polarpeak.com">website</a> frequently to live the dream through them :)<br /><br />Well, a few weeks ago on my way to visit my brother in Albany, NY, I took a detour down the Taconic State Parkway to finally see Polar Peak. Here are a few pictures :)<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTYsBRG0cze5mE2Zm_o_PXtMebCW9zj7dn7YAG83uDT3wSxjIL4TfkgM3WQYn9xi8eA6e6K0HPGA4rmXOFuDELiPcG8uumpqFC6nwJL9Q45ev1I-KqhzebkFRg9H_kUgeG6BdKObvl1Zoy/s1600-h/IMG_2887.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTYsBRG0cze5mE2Zm_o_PXtMebCW9zj7dn7YAG83uDT3wSxjIL4TfkgM3WQYn9xi8eA6e6K0HPGA4rmXOFuDELiPcG8uumpqFC6nwJL9Q45ev1I-KqhzebkFRg9H_kUgeG6BdKObvl1Zoy/s400/IMG_2887.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377262506827239762" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh37gKC2YKTCvnkfNwx-BQXVAbWs9FIM9nw_yTjPCwsKo26GDBkUOhhlypgCoWbYn0sNhm8NeNKjs3OcDMB2PtOqRXSuJGVhgjT4h5oL6O0j_HQtUeYG28UCKIxyk5vKioUuNwEntCsa8ka/s1600-h/IMG_2892.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh37gKC2YKTCvnkfNwx-BQXVAbWs9FIM9nw_yTjPCwsKo26GDBkUOhhlypgCoWbYn0sNhm8NeNKjs3OcDMB2PtOqRXSuJGVhgjT4h5oL6O0j_HQtUeYG28UCKIxyk5vKioUuNwEntCsa8ka/s400/IMG_2892.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377262496231951922" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihSz4_E5uDTa9q3lf3uzuDoOIhh23Nb-XoN_qPyw0VpCEpGCPkOD8aL3-6xJvBHokpiG_MXkDlFrlOWDbCPuo13G7n5ygZ1Oz8x8Ac5PSCv0S9Vh0oz9B3DCIM2gLL18U9TMTb5ngxHwlV/s1600-h/IMG_2888.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihSz4_E5uDTa9q3lf3uzuDoOIhh23Nb-XoN_qPyw0VpCEpGCPkOD8aL3-6xJvBHokpiG_MXkDlFrlOWDbCPuo13G7n5ygZ1Oz8x8Ac5PSCv0S9Vh0oz9B3DCIM2gLL18U9TMTb5ngxHwlV/s400/IMG_2888.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377262486686791122" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG-fWQuHLD1ABPaXQAWTiOsHeou7OOUxRDqwo36C4qy2b9frs2gpsIRy6nozCO_der5b7f0LvboAjhkMQ6tysIaGZuSg8ecwq6yOyPymrL2FGHCnOSeEZ0GlCzQjNZPhrj-tOJ686Nb4Oj/s1600-h/IMG_2894.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG-fWQuHLD1ABPaXQAWTiOsHeou7OOUxRDqwo36C4qy2b9frs2gpsIRy6nozCO_der5b7f0LvboAjhkMQ6tysIaGZuSg8ecwq6yOyPymrL2FGHCnOSeEZ0GlCzQjNZPhrj-tOJ686Nb4Oj/s400/IMG_2894.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377262474761977266" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguWITY3eKXtkIs7VUABvQVmaW_aS9_q6DN8GoLLGshAGpyPPh4CfTyvo6GHbxKHZM_Vgowe34l-9DtE-GDXAKO6zREFdF0fXTS3iJpzy92Z4assHY7L3iLcVPax-s7fHJYkgAvf6k8t0Ct/s1600-h/IMG_2890.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguWITY3eKXtkIs7VUABvQVmaW_aS9_q6DN8GoLLGshAGpyPPh4CfTyvo6GHbxKHZM_Vgowe34l-9DtE-GDXAKO6zREFdF0fXTS3iJpzy92Z4assHY7L3iLcVPax-s7fHJYkgAvf6k8t0Ct/s400/IMG_2890.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377262470223315138" border="0" /></a><div class="blogger-post-footer"><br /><br /><hr /></div>

It's true, we're ready to get the ball rolling! First, we've<br />finished sending out recent orders and recounted the number of guns<br />we have available and it's slightly lower than we originally<br />though, just keep that in mind with your offers. You can start as<br />low as you want, but with each time it gets declined you are<br />wasting time in which others might be buying. Ok, here's the 411<br />if you want to get your hands on a snowmaker:<br /><br />1) Reply to this post with an offer on the snowmaker of your<br />choice, make sure to include your email address so we can <br />reply. A reminder, here are your options:<br />--SNS Combo (orig. $279)<br />--SNS ComboPLUS (orig. $329)<br />--SNS SuperSnow (orig. $379)<br /><br />2) Within 1 hour we will respond. If we accept, I will send a link<br />at which you can buy your snowmaker at that price. This link will<br />be valid for 1 hour. After that, your snowmaker is once again<br />available to the masses.<br /><br />One more rule: you can only make on offer on one snowmaker at a<br />time. Once you have purchased one, can begin making offers on<br />others if you are interested in more than one.<br /><br />I've had 10 people jump the gun and send offers already. You guys<br />will need to resend your offers for them to count. Also, a few of<br />you made offers for under $100. I did tell you to start low, but<br />with limited quantities, I'd raise it a bit.<br /><br />YOU READY? GET SET...GO!<div class="blogger-post-footer"><br /><br /><hr /></div>

Name Your Price Sale Q&A
've had a few questions about the big sale tomorrow so I figured I<br />would address those now so we don't waste any time once things are<br />underway.<br /><br />Q: Is it really "name a price"? Could I say $1?<br />A: Yeah, it really is. You tell me what a snowmaker is worth to<br />you. If it is only worth $1, I will probably say no to your offer,<br />but I think you'll be very surprised by how low we'll go.<br /><br />Q: So I can make as many offers as I want?<br />A: Yes, but keep in mind that every time you make an offer, it<br />could take up to an hour to hear back from us. In the meantime, we<br />could be accepting other offers which would lessen the chance of<br />there being snowmakers left to buy.<br /><br />Q: Can you give me a hint of what price I should start at?<br />A: Nope, that takes the fun out of it :) But I'll tell you this<br />much, if you want to increase your odds of getting a lower price,<br />give me compelling reason why I should. Tell me your story.<br /><br />Q: What time will the sale begin?<br />A: It will start mid-day, around 2pm ET.<br /><br />Q: So if you decline my offer, what happens?<br />A: We may make you a counter offer or we may not. If we do, you<br />are welcome to counter our offer, and so on. If not, just keep<br />making offers.<br /><br />Q: How will shipping work?<br />A: Shipping will be free, as always, but because of the number of<br />orders coming in, snowmakers will be shipped out early next week<br />either Monday or Tuesday.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><br /><br /><hr /></div>

Name Your Price Sale...Seriously
Kind of funny that we talk about the season "ending" in February,<br />but such is home snowmaking...kind of sad! This year is a little<br />different though...<br /><br />You see, each season we are left with tons of leftover parts that<br />we simply use in next year's design: no big deal. But this year,<br />the design is changing so much that most of our parts, if we don't<br />use them now, will be useless.<br /><br />So, we could either return them to our suppliers, or, assemble them<br />into snowmakers and sell them. We've chosen to sell them, for two<br />reasons.<br /><br />1) We recognize that snowmaking can be expensive for some people.<br />Because our alternative (returning the parts) means zero gain, we<br />can sell these snowmakers at whatever price we want.<br /><br />2) I hate to return parts to a company that my be struggling during<br />tough economic times when each of their orders may be precious.<br /><br />With that said, here is how this "end of season sale" will work. On<br />Thursday, February 12, we will send out an email at which time you<br />can begin "making offers" on whichever snowmaker you choose.<br /><br />When you "make an offer" you are basically naming the price for<br />your snowmaker. You can make as many offers as you want, so you<br />might as well start low.<br /><br />Within an hour of your offer, you will get an email back from us<br />saying we either accept your offer or making you a counter offer.<br />If we accept, we will send you a link where you can purchase your<br />snowmaker at that price. That link will be valid for 24 hours.<br />After that period, your snowmaker will be once again up for grabs.<br /><br />As some of your know, when we have a sale, our snowmakers go fast<br />(orders usually begin coming in within 2 minutes of the sale<br />starting). This time, they will go even faster and quantities are<br />limited. We'll try to make sure everyone has a chance to get one,<br />but once they are gone, they really are gone.<br /><br />So, keep an eye out for the email on Thursday and be thinking<br />about which snowmaker you want and what you want to pay for it.<br /><br />And one more thing...Happy Valentine's Day!<div class="blogger-post-footer"><br /><br /><hr /></div>

First Snowmaking of the Year!
Hooray, we finally we able to make snow. I say "finally" but this is actually the earliest we have ever been able to do so...but a long summer just made it seem like it took forever to get here. We made snow for about 2 hours and then goofed off on our snowboards for a few minutes.<br /><center><br /><object width="320" height="255"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ntf_E5jyyL0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ntf_E5jyyL0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="320" height="255"></embed></object><br /></center><br /><br><a href="http://media.switchpod.com//users/snsnowmaking/RiverHeightsSnowDay.mov">Downalod This Video (iPod - MOV)</a><div class="blogger-post-footer"><br /><br /><hr /></div>

We are hoping to make snow on a small hill a few miles away so we can get a few kids together and break out the snowboards and skis for the first time this year as well.<br /><br />Look for pics and vids later this week from all the festivities!<div class="blogger-post-footer"><br /><br /><hr /></div>

Last night Loveland Ski Area in Colorado fired up the guns to gear up for one of their ridiculously early openings once again.<br /><br />If all goes as planned they should open up during the first week or two of October with a base of about 15". Before and After Slideshow
One of my favorite things about home snowmaking is the classic before and after shot. Nowhere is the difference more stark and obvious than with home snowmaking! Here is a little highlight reel of a few before and after shots we actually remembered to take during our snowmaking adventrues last year.<br /><center><br /><object width="320" height="255"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jFYqw5SJz38"> </param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jFYqw5SJz38" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="320" height="255"> </embed> </object><br /></center><br /><a href="http://media.switchpod.com//users/snsnowmaking/BeforeandAfter.mov">Download this Video (Home Snowmaking - MOV)</a><div class="blogger-post-footer"><br /><br /><hr /></div>

The Loveland Snowmaking Countdown Has Begun!
<img src="http://www.coloradoski.com/docs/8ABC18AA-CE51-BA3C-7064017D78B7A022/images/resorts/resort%20pages/resort%20logos/Loveland%2008%20Logo.gif" align="right" />Loveland Ski Area near Georgetown Colorado is famous for ridiculously early openings...usually within the first two weeks of October. And how do they do it? Snowmaking. They use a combination of traditional air/water guns with Lenko fan guns to open a good sized run down the right side of their mountain.<br /><br /><br />The countdown has begun again...they plan on starting their snowmaking efforts in just <b>22 days</b> on <b>September 24th</b>! Snowmaking season is nearly upon us friends!<div class="blogger-post-footer"><br /><br /><hr /></div>
